Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. Come out and join me for a ride from Bellport to the Beach. We will make a quick bathroom stop at Wertheim, then a quick stop at 7-11 for any snacks or beverages on our way to the beach.
This is a C+/B- ride, which will average 13.5 - 13.9, depending on the wind and the riders, and there will be cue sheets.
This could be called Richie's ride as that's what I recorded but it could be Paul's, Mike's, Mark's ride as we traverse many of the same roads.
I'll be riding to the ride weather premitting ... Check back to this posting early Wednesday morning ... as the weather may be a factor and regardless of that Life Happens and Things Change.
We all know what this ride is about; burger and a beer $6.00. Tacos $1.00 and half price beer; if you can’t make the ride, stop in and join us for the eats. We will be back around 4pm. Ok, now let’s talk about the ride.
We’ll be going to the Yaphank area, the Patchogue area, or the Holbrook area. It all depends on the riders and the wind. Most riders like the LI Avenue run, so if possible that will be choice one. The average will be about 14.5 to 15 mph+/-naturally the road speed will be higher; between 15.0 and 17.0 with the wind at your back.
Note: the ride starts at Rudi’s. I have spoken with the owner and parking will be allowed on Wednesdays. Please park along the west, east & south sides of the parking lot. DON’TPARK in reserved spaces or, the NORTH side of the parking lot
I know this is a new ride start location. Click on Rudi’s above and then click Google Maps. If you need directions please call me at 631.484.3490, or text. Any cancellation due to weather or unforeseen circumstance will be posted no later than 12:30PM.
We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 22 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.
Changes or cancelation will be posted by 2:00pm day of ride.
If you have any questions concerning this ride, call Mike at 516 448-8545.
Please note: Sunset is earlier now, so the start time is moving up a bit. We will be leaving promptly at 5:45pm, so please plan accordingly. Bring lights if you have them. (And please do the "no rain" dance...the last two weeks have been tough to call with late day weather issues!)

Join us as we travel scenic backroads thru the Stony Brook-Setauket area: historic places, great views, great sunsets, great folks. We are a diverse group out for an enjoyable ride and fun nite.
The ride classification takes into account the rolling/hill route, often finishing around 12.7-13.4. There are wait ups after climbs and places to stretch your legs ahead... but please note this is not a "race ride". Dinner afterwards for those interested.
Check ride calendar for any changes or cancellations by 5pm the day of ride.
We will head out to one of our local Wednesday destinations. The day light hours are getting shorter so as result we will be doing shorter routes. The ride will be at a B pace with an average speed of around 15 to 16mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph depending on winds and road conditions. Please pack hydration and snacks.
