NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Lots of folks avoid East Setauket as it has a good deal of technical and hilly sections BUT there are also milder single track sections that many riders can handle when keeping the speed down. Come along and I will be more than willing to wait if you want to walk any section that you feel is above you pay grade!
Lots of the trail is pretty wide and ticks should not be a problem unless you dive into the bush ... Also, I will have bug spray available before the ride.
For faster and more skilled riders please look at the ride level ... you will be out ahead of the group I lead that will go at the slowest rider's pace. No one will be left behind in the woods!
Check back to this posting early Sunday morning ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
This will be an easy-going B+/A- ride. Cruise between 18-21mph and can adjust as needed.
We will be breaking at a new bakery - Nettie's Country Bakery which is on Railroad Ave (mile 32). They sell water, coffee and teas as well as pastries, donuts, etc. Feel free to check out their website (https://www.nettiescountrybakery.com/). We will also take a quick water break at the light on 51 (mile 22) (the light were we usually "wait at the top"). Additional stops/breaks as needed.
Sprint section on 111 but we will regroup at Halsey Manor Rd so we make the left onto Chapman together.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Any cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, or weather related problems will be posted by 7:30am. If you have any questions about this ride, or the start location, please call or text my cell, 631-484-3490.
Leaving the Sayville RR we will be heading to Bellport. Our food stop/quick break will be in Bellport. Depending on the weather & route this ride may be a few miles more or less than posted.
This is a B- ride with an average speed of 14.5 to 15 mph, road speeds may reach 17-19mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 7:00am day of ride. Any questions call Mike at 516 448-8545
COME ON THIS 18-22 MILE RIDE AT A 10.6-11.6 PACE. Newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Bring water and a snack if we do not stop as direction depends on the wind direction, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition. Nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:30am.
Gerry will lead this ride that is a shorter version of Bobby's ride. It's flat, goes on the bike path and meets up withBobby at the finish and maybe at the bagel shop break.
Really want to leave at 9:30, so we won't be too far behind Bobby.
