This is the modified Charlie Birds route starting from VMP. This ride is to increase milage and endurance for the good weather ahead; so let's keep the speed under control as this is the most miles many have done this year. Traditional deli stop in Cutchogue (mile 30) and 51 & 111 on return. Check the route.
We'll start from the South Street School and use one of the northern routes to Briermere Farms. Listen for the directions, if you want to get there with the group. The return takes us south, eventually reaching Route 24. Again many ways to get there, but only one true path for this ride!
So get ready for a paceline ride, with some long stretch runs. Remember to give hand signals when getting off the front of the paceline, and ride in a smooth predictable fashion. Remember to bring a mask for any stops.
I changed the starting time to 9:15 to accomidate a subsequent commitment. Come join me for a ride up to Briermere and a slice of pie. If you want to split a pie bring $.
We will average between 15 to 16, with cruising between 16 to 19 to get that average.
I will wait-up whenever someone falls behind. No one will be dropped. If you want to join me please text me on my cell, 631-655-7801.Please provide your name, SBRA, cell, and emergency numbers. Any changes to the ride will be posted by 7:30. The ride will be limited to 8 riders. Once accepted onto the ride if you need to cancel for any reason please text me as early as possible.

By asking to join any SBRA ride, you are required to have read & signed the digital COVID-19 waiver and are agreeing to the Standard Release and Waiver of Liability Assumption of risk and Indemnity Agreement.
If you would like to join this ride please text me - 516-983-4827 I need your name, SBRA #, emerg cell # That way I can prefill the ride sign in sheet. Wheels up at 9:15am for a ride through Shoreham and Wading River. We will stop for refreshment at either the Bagel Lady in Shoreham or a nice slice of Pizza at La Vespa in Manorville in route back to SSM. The bathroom stop will be at our break stop. Depending on the wind and direction we should average 14.5 - 15. Of course in order to obtain this average at times our road speed could be 15-17 mph. No one will get dropped. Please check ride calendar at 7:30am day of ride for go or no go incase of issues which would prevent me from riding or bad weather.
Park in the south part of the lot. Easy ride to the Quogue Wildlife Refuge for our break (bring a snack) and bathroom. Optional pizza after the ride. Text me if you are coming.
Join me for this C+ ride, which will average 12.5 - 13.0.
No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. We will ride from Sayville toward Oakdale, then back past Sayville and loop around Patchogue. We will take our break at the Atlantic Ave. Deli. and a bathroom stop will be made on the way to, or from, our break. The exact route will be determined the morning of the ride, so there will not be cue sheets.
Park on the south side of the train station.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.

The start is just off of route 25 in Jamesport, if driving East take the turn just after the Valero gas station. No bathrooms at the start but we will stop ar Veterans Park (mile 6).
There is a wonderful view from the end of Nassau point but if you don't like big rolling hills you can always wait at the beach. The speed will be in the B- range, trying to keep within the 15 - 17 cruising speed, slower on the uphills, faster down. We will. of course, wait for everyone after the hill. If it is very windy and/or I am tired I would appreciate help with the pulling, (completly optional). The main stop will be at Scoops and Grinds at mile 17, where there is good coffee, baked goods etc (maybe ice cream). We will also check out the ice cream shop in Mattituck (mile 33) just in case you want ice cream.
This is a scenic ride with a number of viewing stops. We head out along Peconic Bay for some water views, and a porta-potty stop about mile 8. Heading out further East for more water views with Robbin's Island in the distance. Riding out to Cutchogue, we go North to the Long Island Sound, passing soon to be planted fields. Heading East, we pass more fields and vineyards. Back to Cutchogue with a food stop at Scoops and Grinds, which has baked goods, ice cream and great sandwhichesl and soups, as well as restrooms. There is outdoor seating at Scoops and Grinds There will be one porta-potty stop on the way back. but if we are lucky the real rest rooms might be open for the season. To join, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your SBRA, Emergency and cell numbers, date of ride, and your full name. This is a long ride, so prepare your schedule accordingly. It is important that you check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:30am. Strong winds or rain would change the posting. Bring plenty of water and snacks.
Join me for this car free scenic D ride along the new eastern section of the Ocean Parkway Greenway. We will ride from Captree State Park to Tobay Beach (18 mile round trip). If it becomes windy we will shorten it to Gilgo Beach (15 mile round trip).I haven't ridden it myself, but I hear its spectacular. So lets get out and enjoy it before the crowds appear.
A few Notes:
1.Start at Captree State Park, after the toll booth go around the circle to the northern main parking lot, not the overlook lot mentioned in the actual start info. There will be a pavilion of some sort and tons of bike racks at the start of the path. This was suggested by the park office.
2.There will be an $8 parking fee unless you have an empire pass
3.If the forecast becomes unfavorable (windy) Saturday morning, I will cancel and switch to a 15 mile meander from Timber Point Golf Course to Islip Beach, start time also 10:30. Please be sure to check the website before leaving for the ride.
Please bring water, spare tube, and a snack if you wish, to enjoy trailside.
There will be a bathroom at Captree State Park.
As Always, please check back here for any changes before leaving for the ride
We will be observing social distancing, and you must have a face covering with you.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, so we can get rolling on time
I'm limiting the ride to 12 riders, Please text me with your Name, SBRA Member Number & Emergency Contact Number. I will return your text confirming your spot on the ride.
