We'll be shooting for a 16 mph crusing speed. Lunch at Nicks Nook in Wading River and snack at Briermere the furthest point. Bring some small bills to split a pie.
No go in rain and if rain is likely before going round trip to Kings Park, ride will be shortened to about 32 miles with Dunkin' Donuts or Urban Coffee in Greenlawn as the food stop.
Off to Netties for a variety of baked treats and coffee. Netties has outdoor seating for social distancing, and bathrooms are available. Earlier ride scheduled for easier parking in the lot, which fills quickly on weekends. To join the ride, contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your SBRA, cell and emergency numbers, your full name and date of ride. This ride will include Red Creek, Pleasure Drive, the Golf Course, and a loop down Speonk Riverhead Road. We will stop at the first gas station after Red Creek for our rest stop and wait ups will be at our usual spots and as needed. Please bring a mask for our rest stop and make sure you have renewed your membership to SBRA. Brian will be leading A- group that will depart shortly after us. Hope to see you there!
We will leave a few minutes after the youngins and do our best to shame them.If we fail, no worries; we’ll write it off to wisdom.Discriminatory policies preclude me from disenfranchising younger generations, so all are welcome on this ride.Be advised, we won’t tolerate back-talk.
Plan on a steady 20 to 23mph cruising speed, except in a headwind, tailwind, ascent, or descent.We are going to keep it smooth—like pureed ribeyes.
If you would like to join this ride please text me - 516-983-4827 I need your name, SBRA #, and emergency cell contact # That way I can prefill the ride sign in sheet. Wheels up at 9:ooam for a ride to Manorville McDonlads and back. Depending on the wind direction we should average 14.5 - 15. Of course in order to obtain this average at times our road speed could be 15-17 mph. No one will get dropped. Please check ride calendar at 7:30am day of ride for go or no go incase of personal issues which would prevent me from riding, or weather conditions which at this time are not looking too promising for Saturday.
Let's continue our further sinking into the depths of Hell with a 42 mile ride from the South Street School to Briermere Farms. We'll do a few miles to loosen-up, before it's the rise up Route 111 and then things heat-up. We'll start feeling the flames as we approach the Devil's Radio https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4dtPHNYz5KI, or at least his radio antenna on the Col de RCN! Next we fly past the Shrine and enter the Alien Highway, as we make our way north to Briermere.
After a break at Briermere, we'll return home along the north route through the fields. Various demons will likely send some winds at us, so don't use up your energy stores too early!
See you Saturday at 9:00 AM; horns are optional! Consider parking in the west lot on the side of the school by the billboard sign, to avoid the crowds.
Join us for this easy and almost completely flat ride from Mattituck to Riverhead, where we will take a break at Briermere. When we return to Mattituck, we can get a slice of pizza (if you want) and then go to the Magic Fountain Ice Cream for a treat (if you want)! {all food is at personal expense}
Route may be flexible, due to the winds, so probably no cue sheets. The average pace will be 12.3 - 13, or so, depending on the weather and those in the group.
Please be aware the start is at the Mattituck Marketplace. Bathrooms available on Main Road in the CVS, across from the Magic Founatin.
