Please join us for an SBRA Multi-Level Ride to celebrate the start of the new Ride Season. This will be a Ride Only (there is NO "official" party afterwards, but casual socializing is what we can all do after the ride).
Ride Leaders, please post a ride so we can try to have as many ride levels as possible for members to join. And it is FINE to have more than one ride at the same ride level since we hope to get a good turnout for this ride.
Members, please check the ride calendar as the date gets closer and hopefully you will see a ride you can participate on.
Everyone, is encouraged to stay for a little while after the ride to say hello to your fellow SBRA members, that you might not get to see very often.
Bring some chairs, snacks, beverages and come join us for an SBRA Multi-Level Ride and Socializing after.
There will be NO CHARGE for parking in the Ecology Center (they stopped charging after 10/1).

It is important that you check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:15am.
This 20-25 mile ride will be a C+ ride (average 12 - 12.8) which is part of the multi-level for the beginning of the ride season. Nobody left behind, also pace and distance depend on riders, wind, position of moon, tide and ride leaders disposition.

How time flies, it's the start of a fifth Thunderbird season and the start of a new SBRA year... So, just for this ride, we'll change the start location to Holtsville Ecology Park, for the Club's season kickoff.
So, let's get in a ride from the Holtsville Ecology Park and head out to Smith Point. There will be some nice road sections to paceline on, and we will avoid that dangerous intersection on Horseblock Road. We'll have a stop at the beach, with an option to stop at the 7-11 store. We'll hit Woodside Avenue in both directions, so that gives you an idea of the route. (Just keep an ear open for directions from the ride leader, there will be a few new tricks on this route).
NO HIJACKING THE PACE ON THIS RIDE, PLAY NICE!
Time waits for no one, no favors has he...so don't miss this opportunity to ride with the Thunderbirds. https://youtu.be/YsH2In5r2sM
Not sure of the route yet but no more than 25 miles. We are tailgating after the ride so, if you can, bring something to share. If you can't, there will be plenty of food! Come start the new SBRA ride year off with friends. Any questions, contact me via this post or cell phone.
Moving our Halloween ride and now calling it the Start of the New Ride Season Club Ride. We will still have a tail gate get together after the ride so please come join and bring a little something snack on and to share with your friends.
I encourage other ride leaders to post and join the fun!

Going to Manorville today. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 20. There are a few places along the route for a break-a-way for those who wish to do so. The ride could end up a mile or two longer depending on the route. Pulling is always appreciated for those who want, but not required. The route we take to Manorville will depend on the wind direction
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE: We will be riding from the Ecology Center to Southaven Park, and the start time has been changed so it hopefully will be a little warmer.
