Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. Join me for this C ride, which will average 11.2 - 11.7; no one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Ride route will be determined by the road conditions; decision to be made the morning of the ride; no cue sheets. We will most likely head to Blue Point, where we will tahe our break; there will be a bathroom stop.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
This will be a B- ride. Expect an average between 14.5-14.9 In order to get this average the road speeds will be between 14.5 and 16.5 mph. Going downhill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. The main objective is to finish the ride without being too concerned about the average. The average will depend mainly on the wind, the hills, and who shows up. We will stay together and there will be one or two break-a-ways for those who want. We will take a break at the Beach and a rest stop at Wertheim about mile 10. Pulls would be appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns please text me at 631.484.3490. Should there be a cancelation, or change it will be posted by 7:00am.
Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to the Beach. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there. The average pace for the ride will be between 15 to 15.9 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction. The road speed will be between 16.0 and 17.0 mph. The usual break-a-ways will happen for those who desire. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out. Pulls are always appreciated.
This ride has morphed into the Wings Cafe ride. Come join us as we make our way around Manorville and Calverton, on mostly quiet paths and roads. All and all, a neat 35 or so miles with some nice stretches of riding and the now special stop at the airport where we may see small planes or skydivers, and where we will stop for a bite at Wings Cafe (which is open on Thursdays).
We will adjust speed based upon temperature, humidity and wind
Please bring any snacks you may want as well as sufficient hydration and some cash if you want to get something at Wings. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. I usually send the final ride file to those that text me. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 7:30 on the day of the ride.
