We will be doing the usual Saturday loop to Manorville stopping at DD's. The pace has been coming in at the top end of the B/B+-B+ range so please be aware if you have not been on one of my rides recently.
We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 26 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15 mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.
This C+ ride of 18-25 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. Newbies welcome and well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:00am. No need to text, email, phone, send message by carrier pidgeon or smoke signal me. Just show up 15-20 minutes before ride start to get your s**t together.
Meet at the Dayton Avenue School for a Thunderbird paceline ride out to Hampton Bays. The school district is now locking the parking lot gates, so park by the small administration building outside the gates.
Yes, we'll start a little later, just to let the remnants of any rain to clear out! I don't want to start the ride in rain. We'll make this up, by running an upper B/B+ pace, so we'll still get back at a reasonable time! Since the weather is changeable, check the ride status the morning of the ride!
The route has been tweaked to add a few miles, so pay attention to the cues! We'll head down Route 24 for an extended paceline run, so it will be your chance to ride for miles without all those traffic lights and slowdowns!
We'll have a stop in Hampton Bays for a bagel, at around 23 miles. Then we'll take the south route along Montauk Highway to Frowein Road, leading us to the finish.
Late afternoon ride in the Hamptons with a stop for some music at Cupsogue Beach. We'll ride along Dune road and head out to Hampton Bays and then head up to Qougue Refuge before returning to Westhampton Beach. Riders have the option to bailout in Westhampton or they can continue on with me to Tiki Joe's at Cupsogue Beach for some music. Music is from 5:30-8:30pm but I only plan to stay until about 7pm before returning back to ride start (about 6 miles).
