Friendly "A" paced ride out to the nice Exxon station, where you can get a slice of 7-11 pizza or a hot dog and a Gatoraide (at your own personal expense). Friendly means we will stop for mechanical issues, regroup where needed, and make efferts to ride as a team within the parameters of the A guidlines. This is the short and sweet version of the Firehouse 54. Download the route below.
Weather Bummer! Ronnie will lead this ride! Click "Read More" and see the picture below ;-( ... Ronnie may not do the Panamoka extra but maybe next time for me. Regardless, enjoy the ride and Ride Safely.
... Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride!
Adding a few miles to go around 3/4 of Lake Panamoka with its short rollers. We'll dismount to exit the lake road and get back on the usual route to Panera Bread in Riverhead. A few other changes to the typical route: a new quick break point after Edwards Ave and also exiting Panera in a safer manner, can be exprected.
This time we'll do a slightly changed route, to avoid some of the road work that's going on in the area...
So, lets meet at The Maples lot for a run out to Briermere Farms. We'll head out east through the farmlands, and have a Briermere stop at around 18 miles.
The return run takes us down through Riverhead for a long run up Route 24. Then, for a change, we'll hit Mill Road and take the easy route westbound to the finish. Just watch for cracks and any new road issues as you descend Mill Road!
We love to hear the sound of those spinning tires and chains, but don't forget to add The Slade: https://youtu.be/LvKiObD2pYU
We will be doing a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg and Westhampton Beach. The average pace will be between 14.5 and 15.0 mph. +/- depending on the wind, road conditions, geese, ducks, squirrels, and rabbits. Road speed will be between 15 & 16.5mph. Pulling is always appreciated. You know the drill.
There will be a short break-a-way along Dune Road; we will not be going to the big bridge. If its too windy on Dune Road the ride will be cut short by 2 miles.
Around mile 25 we’ll stop at the Beach Bakery for some goodies and a bathroom break before heading back to the start.

Time to get back to an afternoon ride at the Wharf before summer gets any further along. We'll go 28 miles through Great River, Oakdale, Sayville, Blue Point, Bayport and turn around in Patchogue. We'll touch a few beaches and finish at the Wharf for Taco Tuesday.
