Ron G. always told me that you have to "Show the Love" to your spare/back up bike. So for this ride I will be grabbing my first Tarmac, no Etap, no power meter, no disc brakes, and no radar. Mine has been sitting for over 2 years so after a quick safety check and chain lube I'm excited to ride the road bike again that got me started in all this. If you have a back-up bike it would be nice for you to Show the Love also. (Brian if you need help which bike to choose give me a call!). We will ride the normal reverse 51 route, A-/B+ pace. Hope to see you and your bike there!

First time at Overton this season so the ride will be slower than "normal". I will certainly be skipping a few DBDs (Double Black Diamonds). This venue is not really for begineers unless they stick only to the blue trail. If you're a begineer than there are easy waitups as the trail is designed with entrance/exit to the BDs.
PLEASE text or email me (address below) with your rider information (Name, Member #, Emergency #, Cell #). The ride will be following the SBRA COVID-19 Guidelines.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Bow hunting season is open, Overton has one or two parking spaces available for hunters; do not make enemies ... do not park in these spaces. If parking is crowded than park across Rt 112 on Paul's Path. Wear bright clothing if you attend. I will have a swinging bell attached to my bike and suggest you do the same.

We are doing our Halloween celebrating a day early by having our ride on Saturaday from Holtsville Ecology Center. (they are suspending the parking fees for the winter) My ride will AVERAGE 12-13MPH. No one left behind, and as always newbies well taken care of. 20-25 miles depending on wind, riders, position of moon, tide and ride leaders disposition. .. We will be tailgating after the ride so bring something to share with your fellow riders.
Not sure of the exact route. I will figure it out when we return from Iceland. This will be a ride only. There is no tailgate party scheduled on this ride.
CHANGE - Since another ride leader decided to post a B- ride. My B- is no longer needed for this event. Therefore I am moving my ride to Manorville.
A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 20. There are a few places along the route for a break-a-way for those who wish to do so. The ride could end up a mile or two longer depending on the route. Pulling is always appreciated for those who want, but not required.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.9 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -17 mph.) to produce the average.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
Join me for this morning ride from SAYVILLE to ?? This will be an easy C+, with a ride average between 12.2 - 12.7. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there will not be a cue sheet for this ride. As always, we will take a break somewhere and there will be a bathroom availoable.
Park on the SOUTH side of the train station.

Yes, the ride start for today is HCC. This is not a mistake.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The ride could end end up a mile or 2 over 30.

IPlease DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride.

Changed to a lower speed - my legs just don't work as well in cold weather!!!
This is a scenic ride with stops to admire the view (and catch our breath!). There are some hills and rollers on this ride but we will wait up for those that take hills at a more relaxed pace. Faster riders can go ahead. The average will be in the low to mid B- range, the uphills slow us down!
We start by going into Poquott, followed by Strong's Neck then the lighthouse where we will take a short break. We finish by going to West Meadow Beach where there are bathrooms.
I appreciate knowing who is coming on the ride, please text 631 331 5642 so I know I'll not be on my own.
