So, come out and join me for this easy, short ride from Bellport over to Patchogue. Bring a snack, as we may not take a regular break. We will, however, find a bathroom if needed.

Due to changeable weather conditions, be sure to check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability, tailwinds, downhills, break-a-ways and other conditions. All of these conditions could change the final average one way or the other. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16 mph.) to produce the average.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride, Maybe.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0730 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
Wow with these high temperatures and wet weather, I'll have to switch to a road ride! This will be short and sweet, mostly flat and rolling with a couple hills to strenghten your legs. Please bring snacks and water as there are no food stops. We will have wait-ups if necessary and a few brief water stops.
Check back morning of ride for any necessary changes by 8:30 am.
Please text me your full name & club # if you plan to join the ride.

Note: Overton allows bow hunting until the end of January … I have not seen any hunters parking in their designated spots this year & I ride with a free swing ringing bell; I suggest everyone ride with bright clothing.
Going to be COOL! Glove warmers are suggested ... no wind chill ;-) but temps will be just about 30F (below that it would be COLD ;-).
Not sure of the mileage. We'll start by riding from Got 6 Minutes and do BDs 1,2,3,5 & 6. No DBDs depending on who shows.
I am a slow rider ... we'll work out wait ups for the those who want to ride faster.

COLD TEMPS, ICY ROADS AND NO SHOLDER DUE TO ACCUMULATED SNOW MAKES RIDING TOO DANGEROUS!
This 18-25 mile ride will be at an 12-13 pace depending on riders, wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. No one gets left behind (unless your name is "noone") and newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Bring water and a snack as a back up to planned rest stops. The Big Roads have wide shoulders that are usually far better to ride in these times.
Big roads twice, halsey/connecticut/river/51/111 for two loops. B+/A effort on two hill climbs, very slow pedal catch ups on top of hills. We will adjust route if halsey/connecticut/river is impassable.
check here for any changes one hour before ride, please text 631-742-6512 to say you are coming.
UPDATE: Added a couple of miles to a total of 34 miles to avoid some bad roads!
So, we will try to get in a ride with a revised version of the Area 51 Big Roads Ride! The course follows mostly main roads that are usually the first plowed and likely to be clear by Sunday. We'll go both directions on County Road 51 and we'll ride both directions on County Road 24.
Now a few comments: 1) This will be a paceline ride. 2) There will be no formal stop, just a couple of regroups. That way we'll get warmed-up riding and avoid getting cold from having a long stop.
Plan on a B/B+ pace so everyone can stay together and still get a workout in. We'll do a regroup after the top of the Route 51 Hill!
Check the Calendar for possible location changes or ride cancellation in case there is no place to park or the roads are impassable.
We are heading to Netties (primary route) or Smith Point, largely depends on the wind at an 11.5-13 pace for 18-26 miles. Either way there will be a food and bathroom stop. Check back here for any changes which will be before 8:30am. As always newbies well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Also bring water and a snack as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition.
Sunday's forecast is rain with warmer temps ... but Calverton dries quickly so hopefully we'll enjoy the sunshine ...

This place is almost non-technical but the hills take a lot of energy. I like hills while on the road but I'm always just about last to finish at this venue ;-( . If you want to ride slower and finish with me then come along. Slightly earlier start so the stronger guys can wait for us at the terrapin.
