Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

This ride will be at the low end of the B- range, with an average speed of 14mph. If you have been thinking of going a little faster than the c+/B- groups, as I have, than lets take our ride to the next level (though very incrementally). Ride speed will be wind, temperature and group dependent. Park in the lot nearest to Montauk Highway. The restaurant at Cupsogue Beach is now open. so we can snack there, or at the Beach Bakery in Westhampton, (group decides). Check website for changes by 07:15am day of ride. We will make a brief stop on Dune Road to see the Osprey chicks in their nest (bring binoculars). For information call Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036.
Want to improve your hill ability? This ride is for you. We do B- on the flats (14-17 cruising speed) and whatever we can on the hills. Wait ups after hills whenever necessary.
Break at Old Field lighthouse (no bathroom) followed by the PLUS: a 3-4 mile loop flat or hilly (your choice) before we head back to reality and the parking lot.
Ride average will be around 14.
Any cancellation will be posted by 8:30. My cell, day of event only, 631-835-1454.
Please join me for a Lighthouse Run. Sorry no cue sheets. We will will ride at a B+ pace. Ride is 25 miles. *****NO GO IN RAIN*****
The ride back to the parking may be changed. Old Town Road was under construction from Sheep Pasture Rd. to at least Rt. 347 last week. If the construction is completed we will ride the regular route back. If not we will ride the alternate route back. The milage using the alternate route will be approximately 27 miles.
Sunset is 8:13pm, losing 6 minutes of light since last week's ride.
This is a hilly and structured ride through Stony Brook, Setauket, Poquott and Old Field. Structured means we stay together as a group. A few specific locations have been designated for riders to break-away from the group, as instructed by the ride leader.
Narrow roads require single file riding along most of the route. Bright colored clothing and bicycle lighting, front and back, are highly recommended.
Come join us for a stroll around the neighborhoods and down to the beach. NO ONE LEFT BEHIND. Extra care taken for Newbies. Mileage depends on daylight, back before dark. Any cancellation by 4PM. Depending on wind and tide average pace is 11-12.5MPH. Park on the South side of the station West end.
Ride start location has been changed from JFK elementary to Oakdale train station for the next several weeks. We will ride east from Oakdale out to Corey Beach with a short rest stop around mile 11. Cancellation for any reason will be posted no later than 3PM.
