What is better than a bakery stop followed by a trip up 51 and 111? Nothing you say! So let's do it. Steady pace to the bakery followed by a brief stop. Then off tp 51 and 111.
East Islip BoA to the famous Copenhagen bakery in Northport where we will have our food/rest stop. This ride is posted as a B/B+ due to effort required for the hills, however, average speed come in more like a "B" level ride. Consider this "hill trainiing" for intermediate level riders. We will cover the Vanderbilt rollers and hills in Northport, Fort Solonga/Kings Park and Smithtown.
No one gets dropped. Wait-up's at the top of each hill. Water breaks as needed.
Please call my cell number below if you have any questions.
Here's a chance to sharpen your cornering and paceline skills, and get stronger! Meet at the Memorial Park, and we'll do some paceline work on the one mile loop inside the old Grumman grounds. (A/K/A the Thunderdrome!).
Every lap will have the fun of some corners and a small rise. Everyone takes a turn pulling into the wind... If you get tired, slow down and we'll catch you on the next lap. Distance can be increased, depending on the group.
Leave the carbon fiber wheels and the small chain ring behind, you won't need them!
We will be leaving East Islip BOA and head to the Great River area. Then we will make our way to the Babylon Dock area. Then off to Islip Beach before returning to the bank. Our break will be in Babylon or East Islip, the group will decide. Please Note: The Baker will have a surprise dessert for us after the ride.
This is a B- ride with an average speed around 15 mph, road speeds may reach 16-19mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 7:30am day of ride.
Heading out to Manorville with the extra Mill hill loop. The pace will be the higher B might be higer depending which way the wind blows! We all stay together. As I write this the forecast is looking nice and sunny...fingers crossed it stays that way. Best to check the morning of the ride for any changes just in case!
Heading to Silly Lilly's in East Moriches. A rest stop there or somewhere close. Mileage may change by 5 miles or so.The pace will stay on the lower end of a B B+ due to limited riding for me. Check in for any changes. My cell 631 922-0632
