NOTE:
Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

Lots of folks avoid East Setauket as it has a good deal of technical and hilly sections BUT there are also milder single track sections that many riders can handle when keeping the speed down. Come along and I will be more than willing to wait if you want to walk any section that you feel is above you pay grade!
Lots of the trail is pretty wide and ticks will not be a problem unless you dive into the bush ... Also, I will have bug spray available before the ride.
For faster and more skilled riders please look at the ride level ... you will be out ahead of the group I lead that will go at the slowest rider's pace. No one will be left behind in the woods!
Check back to this posting early Sunday morning ... as Life Happens and Things Change.
We will ride from Oakdale railroad station south parking lot closest to Montauk Hwy to the Bellport Deli for breakfast and a quick break, we will be averaging around 15mph for the entire ride, which means we will be riding between 14-17 possibly even 18 in order to average 15. Weather is supposed to be nice this Sunday so hopefully the we won't be riding against the wind.
I'm filling in for Bobby. There will be little change in the ride as he has led it in the past, so I copied his description with some minor changes.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
Please DO NOT PARK in the Meat Farms parking lot. Use the west side of the bank if the east side is full. Thanks!
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. DON'T WORRYwe will still have VERYGood Stuff after the Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Any cancellations will be posted by 7:30am. If you have any questions call or text my cell, 631-804-0751.(Bernie's Cell)
Tom is still in Europe, so I am posting this C paced ride for his regulars (and anyone else who wishes to come along). The ride will be approximately 20 miles, at an average between 11.0 and 11.5. We will ride around Ronkonkoma, through Holbrook, and down to Sayville before returning to the start. The exact route may be determined by the wind, etc.
Our break will be at The Gourmet Bagel Shop, where food, beverages, and a bathroom are available. Newbies always welcome and nobody gets left behind. Remember to bring a beverage so you can keep hydrated.
That's 32 miles... For this run, we will leave South St. School for a controlled paceline ride out to Briermere Farms. I'm planning on an easier pace, as I've been off the bike for a few days... Fingers crossed that the hurricane wiil be long gone by the day of the ride!
The route outbound will take us along Route 24 for some paceline work to Riverhead, and then on to Briermere. The return will take us through the farms, hopefully avoiding the headwinds!
I had to change the ride from Friday to Sunday do to the weather. The time will also be 12:00 instead of 5:00. W will also make a deli stop by the docks. The ride start has also changed because the park is still charging until 4pm We will be starting at Abraham Lincoln school on West 15 street Deer Park.
