It will be chilly but if you want to avoid the wind chill this winter you'll come into the woods. This will be a relatively short ride.
The ride will start with a narrow fire road and then proceed onto single track that is well worn and relatively wide. You will be able to do this ride even if you have a department store Mtn Bike. We won't be deep into East Setauket woods but regardless, NO ONE gets dropped in the woods.
If I don't hear that someone is showing I may cancel the ride or do one of the more advanced trails.

Today's CHANGE:Starting at 11 AM; slow & easy, to be determined by the road conditions.
Original change: Ride moved from Saturday, Dec. 12th, due to the rain.
Now a C ride, which will average 11. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. We will either loop around Bellport and Patchogue, and then go to Corey Beach, or maybe go to the Smith Point Marina - decision to be made the morning of the ride. There will be a bathroom stop somewhere, as well as a break. Route TBD, so no cue sheets.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
NOTE #1: You must be a club member to go on club rides.
NOTE #2: riders at this time are limited. You MUST text me with your name & SBRA Member Number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
I drove several routes today, and was not pleased with some sloppy areas around Calverton and Manorville. So we will leave from Eastport and head out East, where the roads were much better. We will hit the bathrooms in WH Beach, and food/snacks are available. If you wish to join this ride, text Bill G. (631-356-3036) with your SBRA, emergency and cell numbers, date of ride and your full name. By return text you will be notified if you are in, or whether the ride is full. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am. Consider this as a new posting, so you must send your info. Al Barry and I decided to bring Mountain Bikes for their wider tires and better traction, just a thought for you to consider, a hybrid also has wider tires.
CHANGED TO A BELLPORT LOOP - I rode around Bellport yesterday and the roasd were clear! Bill G. changed his posting from the Calverton Memorial Park because he drove some of those roads yesterday and was not pleased with their condition. Since I know what is around Bellport I am using his opinion to make this change.
Ride will be around Belport and over toward Patchogue. This will be a slow C+ ride, which will average around 12.0. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there willnot be a cue sheet for this ride.

I road the side roads today with my car around Manorville and they were very bad so I am canceling this ride. This ride will be a C or C+ depending on who shows up and how cold it is? No one left behind ride to Westhampton Bakery must have Mask limit 8 riders to a Group will split ride up if more people show up and the second or third group will follow the first group must be a member in good standing no one left behind, we will follow all the club rules on the Covid 19 listed below cell phone 631-484-1650 call for any Questions after 7am or before 7pm please.Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted 2 hours before.
I road this ride on Sunday, and except for a little slush (which you can ride around) in some places in the Cupsogue lot, our roads were ok. There will be restrooms stops in Westhampton Beach at miles 8 and 20. Bring snacks and drinks to have at stops on our route. At mile 20 you can stop at a bakery, 7-11 or Goldberg's Bagels. Text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 if you wish to join the ride, include your SBRA, emergency and cell numbers, your full name and date of ride., Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted b 9:00am. I would recommend a mountain bike or hybrid for riding post snowstorm, due to their wider tires. Road bikes can be used, just don't wander into patches of snow abutting the roads. Riding at 11:00 should help to melt any black ice that might have formed overnight.
Join me for this C+ ride that will average 12.0 - 12.5 We will be riding from the Timber Point Golf Course in East Islip to Islip, and doing a few loops with some nice sights and water views. We will take a brief break along the way, so bring your own snacks, and we will find bathroom stops when necessary.
No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Due to possible weather issues, the exact route will be determined the morning of the ride (thus, no cue sheets).
After entering the golf course, park in the FIRST lot on your RIGHT.
Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.

Since I'm not cooking for 36 family members, or even seeing any family menbers, I thought a morning meander would be good to burn up some calories before enjoying a nice quiet Christmas dinner at home.
