I will be riding to the McDonalds in Manorville for our breakfast break. I have posted the ride as a B- in which I expect we will average as a high B- very low B. If you have been riding with Howard you know we are averaging around 15-15.4 I expect we will be doing the same. I am going to try to keep it around the 15 mark, which means our road speeds could be 15-17 mph and slightly more when going down hills. I will have three break-aways for the speed demons they are listed below feel free to go as fast as you want on these break aways but when we regroup lets all try to keep the pace as I have mentioned.
BREAK_AWAYS
1. When we make the right turn turn off of Halsey Manor onto RT. 111 go as fast as you want wait up at the light at Chapman
2. On the way back to Sunshine once we cross over Weeks Ave. go as fast as you want on South Street. Wait up at the traffic light at the intersection of South St. and Middle Island Moriches road.
3. On the way back to Sunshine once we turn onto William Floyd South bound shoulder go as fast as you like wait up is after the turn onto Victory.
Hopefully this will appease everyone and limit complaints.

Overall, we will be running much of the ride as more of a tour, enjoying the scenery, surroundings and views, nonetheless riders should be able to maintain at least 15-16 mph on the flats when necessary (like our short interludes on Montauk Highway).
We will not be making a stop to buy food during the ride, so, please bring lunch, snacks and sufficient hydration. There is an optional ice cream stop at the end of the ride for those who are interested. Most importantly bring an upbeat inquisitive attitude ready to explore and discover.
To join the ride or if you have questions, please text Bill Mastro at 917-921-5358. If joining the ride, please forward your full name, SBRA number, cell number and your emergency contact. Any updates or weather issues will be posted to the ride listing by 7:30 on the day of the ride.
This ride is supporting the SBRA picnic celebration of universal and eternal comraderie between all cyclists, big and small.
-------> Get to indian island park before 8am and you will both be in time for the ride and won't have to pay a parking fee <----
You can go on the rides even if you havent registered and paid for the picnic, but you will be missing some fun.
Ride will meander from Indian Island and include a all of Dune Road ...
If we have a strong wind from the west, we will travel eastbound, otherwise we will travel westbound ( see two routes below).
There will be at least one stop after the dune road run(bring bannanas or fig newtons), trying for an actual top of B+ average more than a middle A (is that B sharp).
Lets get the "A" team rolling for a good ride before the SBRA picnic. One planned stop at mile 36 (7-11) otherwise we ride as a team, with one minuite pulls; group stays as one. I listed this as an A but it's no faster than the A- rides we've been posting. Don't forget to sign up for 'the picnic' on the SBRA website. Bring a towel and essential toiletries to freshen up after the ride (they have hot showers in the park). Hope you can make it to this one. Route posted below;
If you text me your info, I'll sign you in and avoid delay at the start.
Come and join the fun at our SBRA Picnic which we have not been able to do for a couple of years. You can come and do the ride for no fee or come do the ride and stay for the picnic for a 30.00 charge. There is a link to pay on the front page of the website. You will need to sign up for the picnic part so we can tell the caterer how much food he needs to bring.
Try to get into the park before 8 so you do not have to pay for parking.
For this Picnic ride, we'll head out along the Peconic Bay and the up to the farms of the North Fork. Then it's back along the North Fork and through Riverhead, before we head back to the park.
This will be a cobtrolled paceline ride, where we'll ride together like a team. That means no surges or jacking-up the pace, let's show some discipline and enjoy a ride for once! Off the front and you're off the ride!
This is a scenic ride along the Peconic River and up thru Cutchogue. There will be a quick coffee/bathroom stop at a deli in Cutchogue. At mile nine there are porta-potties at Veteran's park in New Suffolk, which we will also stop at on our return. Veteran's park does have regular bathrooms, but they aren't always open. Please let me know if you will be joining the ride so I can get an idea of how many riders we will have. You can text me at 631-356-3036.
Come join me for a ride from Indian Island County Park to Cutchogue. It is a B ride, averaging 15-16 MPH. The cruising speeds will be 16-19 to get the average.
I will wait-up whenever someone falls behind. No one will be dropped. If you want to join me please text me on my cell, 631-655-7801. I will let you know if you are in, or the ride is full. Please provide your name, SBRA, cell, and emergency numbers. Any changes to the ride will be posted by 6:00 am. Be there before 8 to avoid paying an entry fee. There is an SBRA fee of $30 to join the picnic. The ride will be limited to 12 riders unless there is another ride leader joining me who wishes to split the ride. Once accepted onto the ride if you need to cancel for any reason please text me as early as possible. You can find the “Ride with GPS” route in the SBRA “Ride with GPS” account under the tag, MReiser.
The club's Annual Picnic is back! Many ride levels will be available, so pick the ride/distance of your choice. Following the ride there will be water, food, sides, and dessert (most likely ice cream, but no pie). You may bring any beverage ofyour choice, including beer and/or wine.
My ride will be a C+ pace - more details at a later date.
NOTE: I am limiting the number of riders, so youMUST text me with your name, SBRA Member Number, and Emergency Contact phone number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
Going to Manorville today. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 13. There are a few places along the route for a break-a-way for those who wish to do so. Pulling is always appreciated for those who want, but not required. The route we take to Manorville will depend on the wind direction. This will be a B- ride with the average speed between 14.5 & 15.0. Probably twords the lower end, at least that's what my legs are telling me. Road speed will be between 15 and 16mph. If you want to go faster, please go on another ride.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 0715 if necessary. If you have question about the ride just text me at 631.484.3490. Eventually my phone and I will meet in a reasonable amount of time...
Mileage is approximate but won't be more than 20. May depend on what the group feels they can do. This will be a slower paced ride for those who prefer that. Come join the fun after the rides at the picnic (sign up via the main page of the website). You can ride and not stay for the picnic, but isn't it all about the food?? Any questions, text or call me.
Plan on an A- or maybe a little faster depending on the group and our legs, so we'll ride 20-22mph and look to come in around a 20mph average. We'll stop at Nettie's (mile 29).
Join me for this ride from Calverton, where we will ride on the back roads around Manorville, then go up toward Wildwood. We will take our break at the deli outside the park, where tables and a bathroom are available. This is a C+ ride, which will average 11.9 - 12.6, depending on the winds, etc. The exact route will be determined at the start, so there willnot be a cue sheet for this ride.
NOTE: I am limiting the number of riders on my rides, so you MUST text me with your name, SBRA Member Number, and Emerency Contact phone number if you want to ride. I will return the text: YES, you have a spot…or…NO, Ride Filled...CELL #: 631-523-2129
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. Taking turns pulling would be appreciated! I would like to keep the road speed between 17 & 19 mph and come in at an average between 15 and 16.0
Join me for this scenic C- ride, cruising speed will be 10-11 depending on the group. No one gets dropped.
We will meander around some quiet back roads in East Islip, before heading west to Islip where we will stop at the beach for a snack and bathroom break. Please bring water, spare tube, and a snack if you wish.
Please always check back here for any changes before leaving for the ride

This is a C/C+ ride pace depending on riders' ability, tide, moon phase and leader's disposition. At the halfway point on this flat ride we'll meet up with the faster riders for a rest stop at the bagel shop.
This ride will go to the Shoreham Village private beach overlook for a lovely view. Sorry we will not see & be a parade as we did/were on JULY 4th! We will
travel there along Whiskey road. There is a section with a lot of potholes but there seems to be NO route to avoid them nasty beasts on the Island!
After a short snack & view break, the return trip will be through Rocky Point along Lower Rocky Pt Road, etc, where there are a series of rolling hills though none are tremendous. Everyone can take the hills at their pace and we will do wait ups as needed. This is good training for anyone wanting to ride anywhere but LI south shore!
Once we reach Miller Place we will veer off to McNulty's Ice Cream Parlor for a nice cool treat! Please bring $$ for your selection! Also bring fluids and snacks as there will not be a lunch stop. There are bathrooms at McNulties but not at Shoreham. If needed, we can find a fire dept station or two for assistance.
Please text me if you plan to join this ride -- 631-806-9662. McNulty's opens at 12 so i am estimating to get there about that time.

This will be a LOW B- ride, which means we will be coming in with an average between 14 and 14.5. The route will be the usual Sunday route except we will go to Hecksher and do the short loop. We have be doing this when we were riding a C+/B- so you know you can do it. In order to get this average the road speeds will be between 14.5 and 16.5 mph. Going downhill, or with the wind at your back will be faster. The main objective is to finish the ride without being too concerned about the average. The average will depend mainly on the wind, the hills, and who shows up. We will stay together and there will be one or two break-a-ways for those who want. We wil l take a bathroom break in the park and a fuel stop at the bagle shop
Pulls are always appreciated. There will be GOOD STUFF after the ride.
