Brickwell Farmingdale is our host location for this ride from Farmingdale Village to Target Rock (and just beyond) in Lloyd Neck. We will pass through the towns of Bethpage, Melville, Huntington, Cold Spring Harbor, Syosset, Woodbury and Hicksville before returning to Farmingdale. We will have one rest stop in Caumsett State Park (with rest rooms and vending machines only), so please bring along nutrition accordingly. This is a no-drop ride with wait-ups as needed. Brickwell MultiSports will provide a coffee and bagel breakfast for us in the shop after the ride. Please park and meet us behind the bike shop in the free municipal parking lot, and NOT on Main Street, where parking meters may be in effect. Garmin route available here: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/20411034 Any questions, please text me.
We will be leaving the Post Office heading to Great River and East Islip Marina area. Then we will head East to Heckscker park for a restroom stop and a loop around the park. Then head North picking up the Connetquot bike path going into Bohemia. We will take a short break at Starbucks around mile 22.
This is a B ride with an average speed of 14.8 to 15mph, road speeds may reach 17-18mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 7:30am day of ride.
Bring $ or snacks for a rest break at the Center Moriches McDonalds. We will be cruising at 15.5 mph finishing the ride with an average speed of 14.3-14.7. We will start slow to get our legs going. No one gets dropped
Scenic ride out to Bellport travelling through Sayville and Patchogue. Quick rest stop in Bellport and then taking northern route back via Woodside/LI Ave/Johnson/Connetquot Ave. There are a few small hills along the way (Oakdale Merge area and Woodside) but nothing major. We'll have wait-ups after the climbs - no one gets dropped.
The average speed will be around 16.5mph and road speed may reach 20mph depending on weather conditions.
Today’s route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park and do a loop there where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired.
The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 and the deli/bakery unless you want to go to McDonalds or Starbucks at mile 25. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. After the ride there will be GOOD stuff.
Please DO NOT Park in the Meat Farms parking lot.
Any changes will be posted no later than 7:30am, if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call or text anytime if you have questions or need directions to the ride start...Thanks Bobby
After all the booze-related rides on Saturday, the title seemed appropriate...
Get up and get ready for a detox ride out to Briermere Farms, leaving the South St. School in Manorville. At Briermere, you can enjoy some pie or cookies with your aspirin. To increase your circulation and futher help flush those toxins out of your body, we've added in some rolling terrain on the trip out to Briermere. (I hear blueberries are good source of vitamins and antioxidants, so they might be the pie/fruit of choice, after Saturday...).
Plan on a quick stop at Briermere to hydrate, hit the bathrooms and get ready for the return trip.
OK, JUST JOKING about the booze, WE ALL KNOW THAT EVERYONE IN SBRA KNOWS HOW TO CONTROL THEMSELVES! BUT, WE WILL STILL HAVE A RIDE TO BRIERMERE!
Depending on wind, tide, ride leaders disposition and position of moon we will ride approx. 22 miles at an 10.8-11.7 average speed stopping at Bean & Bagel for a quick snack/water break. As always newbies always welcome and NOBODY gets left behind. So get off your butt, put down the TV remote and lets ride for some exercise. Cancellation for any reason will be posted by 8:00AM. Cookies at the rides end?
