It's off to Manorville. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph +/- depending on the roads, wind direction, rider ability or other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. A rest/ food stop at McDonald’s or the bagel shop is on the schedule around mile 14. There are a few places along the route where leg stretches can be done for those who wish to do so. There is no obligation for anyone to do this; you can hang back with me.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30am, if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call or text me anytime if you have questions about the ride.
Nice ride from Bellport Municipal parking lot to Main Street, Sayville. We'll stop at Dunkin Donuts for a break, ride around Sayville before heading back to Bellport.
Since tires lose air between rides, please take time prior to all rides to air up your tires and ensure your bike is in proper riding condition. Be prepared by having a bike pump, spare tube(s) and C02 cartridge(s) along with the mandatory bike helmet.
Check back on this posting for changes/cancellations which will be made prior to 7:30 AM the day of the ride.
We will be leaving Back of American in East Islip heading to Great River / East Islip and into Heckscker park for a restroom break and a loop or 2 around the park. Then we will head to the Islip Beach and returning to the bank.

This is the first ride in the series designed to train new or beginner riders for their first 100 mile ride on June 9. See Newsletter or web page for further information. You must pre-register for the ride series to participate on this ride [century@sbraweb.org] The President, Ride Chair and Leaders ask for your cooperation. This is St. Patricks day and we expect the parking lot to be full. Please arrive at the station 30 minutes ahead to allow for parking delays. Bring or buy lunch in Medford.
This is the second ride in my Metric Practice series, for information on the series, check last Sunday's ride calendar. We will be heading out to Westhampon Beach, riding 3 miles on Dune Road, making some scenic stops in Quogue, and returning via the Beach Bakery. For info: Contact Bill Gravitz at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
On Friday, I drove the original route to see if there would be any surprises. There were. One was a flooded road, not a problem, but the Jessup Lane Bridge to Dune Road is apparently under repair and closed. I have created an alternate route to avoid most of the mess, but you should be aware of the following:
1. The "initial" ride will be 35 miles with a possible 5+ mile addition after we return to the ride strart.
2. Since it is very early in the season, the pace of the ride will attempt to accomodate all of those who show up, but it will be no faster than a slow B.
3. The stop will be at the Beach Bakery, but we will initally pass it as we head to Beach Lane and down to Dune Road.
4. The roads, as you can imagine, are at times fine, OK or terrible.
Hope that those who join me will just enjoy being back in the saddle.
We ride as a group. Those who are comfortable can help with the pulls.
Additional changes or cancellation by 7:30 day of ride.
