Let's hit the North Fork this week with a ride starting from Riverhead to Greenport with a little earlier start time. We will meet behind Twin Forks Bicycle store. There will be one long stop in Greenport and a couple of shorter stops, so bring a few snacks and water.
Usually, I encourage any rider who wants to try one of my rides to give it a go; however, this is a GROUP training ride for the century. If you plan to ride the century with this group, I would hope you would make every effort to jump on. If you have been riding with us and can't make it this week, no problem.
It is going to be between 65-70 miles, so you should come prepared to do that distance and be able to maintain a 16.5-17.5 pace, no faster and hopefully no slower unless the weather is an issue. I don't want to be put into a position where I need to be a speed cop, so, if this pace is not to your liking, please jump on someone else's ride.
Also, please make every effort to have the route on your Garmin, mobile phone, etc. so that we all know the course.
We will use a modified paceline. Everyone this week will have an opportunity to pull so that we get used to taking turns during the century.
Rotating paceline 1min. max pulls at a steady pace, to keep us moving and the group together. We ride to Briermere for a short break, before returning. Anticipate 19-20 MPH Adv. speed. This ride is more about distance than speed. Please check the route posted below.
A pretty ride through the Hamptons and north shore, the rest stop will be in Cutchogue. We'll take brief water breaks along the way. Please be prepared to leave on time.
Leaving the bank we will be heading to Bellport. Our food stop will be at the Bellport Deli. Depending on the weather & route this ride may be a few miles more or less than posted.
This is a B- ride with an average speed of 14.5 to 15 mph, road speeds may reach 17-19mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 7:00am day of ride. Any questions call Mike at 516 448-8545
Park in the lot nearest Montauk Highway. We all liked last week's route so we wil be doing it again, with a few modifications to add a few miles. Our stop will be at Briermere around midride. Also an opportunity for a quick stop at McD's in Manorville cloer to the end. Check back for any changes. I can't ride Sunday so let's hope Saturday's weather cooperates!
Today's’ route will be similar to the Great River route with some added mileage, and a few changes. The changes will bring us through Islip Terrace or East Islip; it will all depend on the wind. The route is pretty flat except for an overpass, here and there.
We will go the usual route, heading south, using the Connetquot Park bike path. We’ll work our way through the Islip’s then down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 17.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
We’ll be making a bathroom break around mile 21. The rest stop around mile 27 will be the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction.
Any cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, or weather related problems will be posted by 7:30am. If you have any questions about this ride, or the start location, please call or text my cell, 631-484-3490.
Steady paceline ride on mostly big roads like Rtes. 111, 51, 24 and Mill Rd. at the end. Short pulls, cruising at 18 +/- to average low end of B+ range. Will ride around the SCCC course twice to hit 50 miles. It's 27 miles to the first rest stop in Hampton Bays, bring enough water & snacks. Changes posted by 7 a.m.
Leaving Eastport we will head out to Westhampton, take Dune Road to Cupsogue County Park, than head out to the Quogue Preserve. We will than go to the Westhampton Bakery for our snack. There will be a bathroom break in Westhampton at mile nine, and again at Cupsogue and the Quogue Preserve. Bring a snack to enjoy at Cupsogue, while we are viewing the Atlantic Ocean. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar for changes, which would be posted by 07:20am.
cOME ON THIS 18-22 MILE RIDA AT A 10.6-11.6 PACE. Newbies always welcome and well taken care of. Bring water and a snack if we do not stop as direction depends on the wind direction, tide, position of moon and leaders disposition. Nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be ny 9am.
We'll bike from Bayport to Bellport. There will be a Bellport deli stop 14 miles in. If weather is pleasant we'll have our snack at the dock; otherwise we'll stay in the deli for warmth.
