Halloween Ride!! Come join me for the last ride of the SBRA year. Let's ride the forecasted wind out to Montauk (SW@14mph) and celebrate with a nice cold beer at THE END (Pumpkin Ake at Montauk Brewery). This will be a one-way ride and we'll take the LIRR back home. I plan to make stop in Southampton for some breakfast treats at Tates bakery and then another hydration/rest room stop in East Hamptons before taking the final stretch to Montauk (THE END). Well, it's not really all the way to THE END. The metric takes us into the town of Montauk. For those of us who want to take it all the way to the lighthouse (I usually do), pls tack on another 10 miles plus some add'l elevation. Group pic at the lighthouse. If time permits, we'll also grab some lunch out there. If we run tight on time, we can always pick up deli sandwiches in town and eat on the train.
Pack sufficient hydration and food to eat along the ride and bring some $$/credit card for lunch and train fare home. No bike permit required anymore for LIRR. Tickets can be purchased at station or you can use the MTA TrainTime app.
Trains leave Montauk at 12:58pm, 2:46pm and 4:52pm. It's about a 75 min ride back to Speonk so you can make it back home in time for the trick-or-treater's.
An easy roll out to Bean and Bagel on less traveled roads with long straightaways. Cruising speeds 15-17 mph. Check calendar before leaving your home, any changes will be posted by 7:00 am.
Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to the Beach. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there. The average pace for the ride will be between 15 to 15.9 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction. The road speed will be between 16.0 and 17.0 mph. The usual break-a-ways will happen for those who desire. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out. Pulls are always appreciated.
Meet at The Maples for a howl of a ride to Westhampton Beach. This wll be a structured paceline ride, but let's keep this one in control!
The outbound loop takes us down Route 24 and onto County Roads 104 and 31, past the Airport to the Beach. We'll then have a stop at around 24 miles, for a food stop.
The return loop takes us up the Casa Basso, and onto Old Country Road and finally back to Manorville.
Join me for this easy and almost completely flat ride from Mattituck to ?? We will take a break somewhere with a bathroom. We will most likely go yo the Magic Fountain Ice Cream for a treat (if you want) after the ride! {all food is at personal expense}
This is a C+ ride, which will average 12.1 - 12.6, depending on the weather and those in the group. The route may be flexible, due to the winds, so probably no cue sheets.
Please be aware the start is at the Mattituck Marketplace. Bathrooms available on Main Road in the CVS, across from the Magic Founatin and in the Marketplace food store.
