We'll SKIP the technical stuff at the beginning by riding north on the road up to the big painted rock. Those that want do the technical stuff can do it at the end of the ride ... it's not as bad as the Overton DBDs. East Setauket has plenty of hills to challenge a rider's strength & stamina.

No more room, ride full! Start at Maples - no bathrooms so come prepared. Ride down into Moriches and then Eastport. Speonk station (mile 17), has a little cafe, they are very friendly and make nice coffee (free refill - so might want to bring a flask!), there is a menu but not much in the way of baked goods so bring your snack if case nothing appeals. https://www.littlegullcafe.com/menu
Will be a mid B- pace. No one abandoned. I appreciate knowing if I will have company so please text 631 331 5642. Limit 12.
Park in the lot across from Kreb. Slow ride to the Marina. Stop at 7-11 for snacks if you wish. Bathrooms at Wertheim and should be a porta potty at the Marina. I'm way out of shape so the pace won't be pushed! (BTW-my church is collecting gently used shoes and boots if anyone has any they wish to give away). Contact me with any questions.
Meet at the South St. School, for a ride that will take us through Wading River and then down Route 24 to Riverhead. Afrer a short stop at the Riverhead McDonald's, we'll paceline back up Route 24 to Grumman Boulevard and then back home.
The course will be flat to lightly rolling, so it should be a fun time for riding in a paceline. The winds will be light, so it should be a good time to ride.
Tough call! and if you don't show I understand; I plan to be there and out of the woods by 11 ...
This ride will be a repeat of last year's Beginner Mtn Bike ride but may extend dependant upon who shows. We'll start with the short double loop on the west side of Belle Meade and then cross to the easy stuff on the Intermediate trail. No ONE GETS DROPPED in the WOODS!

There is a 7/11 at mile 13 if anybody wants to stop. Otherwise there are scenic stops along the route where you can snack, it's too cold for a long stop!

Calverton is mostly flat but we'll do one hill in the Black Diamond area at the north end so folks can get a climbing challenge. You need a parking and access pass for DEC property ... here is the link for the club's website: https://www.sbraweb.org/node/6490

It is going to be a windy day so we will take it easy. Pretty straight forward , we will head out of the train station and ride into the village .

Get ready to launch for a paceline ride out to Riverhead, where we will have a short stop at the McDonald's. We'll follow a route that will hide us from the wind for much of the time, and we'll keep everyone together! The route with go through the Pine Barrens and feature a run along Route 24. We'll drop the pace down a little for this ride, so that those who want to get back on the road will have a chance!
AND, we can search for the ever elusive Shamrock Shake!
So let's get all the O'riders out and celebrate St. Patrick's day a little early...

Ok, so by request, we are heading to Manorville for a change. I don't know the exact route yet (as I want to avoid too many hills this early in the season) so the mileage is approximate but would not be over 25. On the way we stop at Wertheim National Refuge (mile 7) which has clean porta-potties. At mile 14 we arrive at Smithpoint County Park for a short break (real bathrooms avilable), than head out to Osprey Pointe. Osprey Pointe has benches, and we will take a break there. At mile 24 we stop at Wertheim again, that return to Bellport. If anyone wants to pick up snacks on the way, there is a 7-11 just before Smithpoint County Park. To join, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your SBRA, emergency and cell numbers, full name and date of ride. Note: if no texts are received, the ride is cancelled. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am. If the winds become strong, ride speed will be reduced.

COLD Again! The forecast temps are low 20s and on the road it will feel like 10 ;-( ... Come into the woods!
Unless a faster Ride Leader posts the same ride, I'll be the Ride Organizer and not the lead rider for most of the ride. You can hang with me as I'm slower than lots of faster riders.

Calender conflict - had to move ride to later on in the day, aslo changed route to get away from afternoon traffic.
The sign for the library is small! Park in the far left corner of the car park. Most of this ride is scenic, enjoy the views! As a consequence there are some hills on this ride, nothing too bad, we will take it gently, with wait ups as needed, because of this we will probably come in at a low B- or even a C+/B-. No destination as such so bring your own snacks and drinks - we'll have picnics along the way.
I appreciate knowing that someone will be with me so please text 631 331 5642 just to let me know you are coming on the ride.
We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 21 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15 mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18 mph.

A ride out to Orient Beach State Park from the Riverhead waterfront parking area. A longer ride to get in some endurance miles to prepare for upcoming Fondos. Keep in mind that this ride typically has a tailwind going out but has the potential of a wearing headwind on the return. We will stop at the 7-11 just before Greenport but make sure to bring something to eat and 2 water bottles as the park will not have any food outlets open this time of year. After the ride Riverhead has plenty of places for lunch (or a beer) if anyone is interested. Hope to see you there!
We will be riding on the Grumman Trail, as well as thru areas of Calverton and Manorville. Bean and Bagel has indoor and outdoor eating areas, as well as rest rooms. To join this ride, text Bill G. at 631-356-3036 with your SBRA, emergency and cell numbers, your full name and date of ride. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:30am. Strong winds will reduce ride speed.
