This is the usual Slow Hills route with two additions: a bathroom stop about mile 9 at the library and a one-mile walk (round trip) shortly after the lighthouse to check out the boardwalk over Flax Pond. We will have our usual snack break at the lighthouse. Weather is supposed to be DRY. The walk is flat and paved and the scenery is lovely. Something different for a Friday morning.
Please let me know if you're coming so that I know to leave from Marshall's or home. My cell is 631-835-1454. Any change or cancellation will be posted by 8am morning of ride.

I am posting a B/B+ however i think the ride will come in at the low end of the category, 16-16-3? It will depend on the weather, wind etc. We have been riding at the level the group is geared to. .Folks are just starting to find thier groove after the winter so don't let the pace deter you. Any questions text me # below.

Ride the Four Peninsula rollars and hills of Three Village area, Setauket, Stony Brook and Old Field. Ride will head first to West Meadow/Trustees Road for a bathroom opportunity.
Country roads, rollers, hills and water views.
Ride should come in at a C+/B- pace, 13-14mph average, being slowed by rollers, hills and turns. At times we will be cruising in the 17+mph range.
This ride is about getting out to see where we are at. For those that are faster there will be spots to take off. For any slower riders we will take care of you to. I'm going to try to avoid the wind as much as possible. Call if you have any questions.
Join the Thunderbirds for the first of our Century training rides. These will be some rides to get in shape for the Bloomin' Metric in Connecticut and the SBRA RxR Century. This will be a paceline ride and you should have gotten in some rides already, so you're ready to work-up to the longer distance training rides you'll need to do those big rides. The plan is to ramp-up the distance and speed over the next rides, so we can ride a century at a B/B+ or B+ pace.
Remember: "To finish first, first you must finish!" (-Sir Stirling Moss (?)). So, don't push the pace in the beginning!
This week we'll leave from the Eastport Kreb Cycle, (park in the back section of the lot at the northwest corner).
The route takes us along the middle section of the Century, through the rolling terrain in Westhampton and Hampton Bays. We'll have a food stop at 23 miles at the western end of Southampton at a Goldberg's Bagels. We'll then return back through Quogue and Westhampton on a slightly flatter route.
This 18-24 mile ride will now be on the SOUTH SIDE of the Ronk train station near the Western end of the parking lot closest to Railroad Ave. Bring a snack and hydration. The usual M.O.M. B+/A- pace. Rest stop at 22 mi at Wildwood Lake. Waitups as needed. Average 19+/-. I've been dormant for the past week so I need a steady pace, not too fast. Use the link below to view and download the route.

The route will be shared later, but expect some additional climbing. Get ready to push yourself and strengthen your legs for our weekly strength-building ride. This will help improve your climbing skills. There will be waitups and Soft Peddles at the top of hills. Cordwood will be included in this ride! I initially rated it as a B+, but be prepared for a possible A-/B+ level of effort.
Please text me by 1pm on the day of the ride to confirm and text you the route.
We'll be head over to Hecksher for a quick restroom stop, the final destination will be Islip Beach. There won't be any food stops so please bring your own snack(s) and hydration. Please have your bike equipped with lights and wear high viz clothing.

Join me for a midweek ride! I will be leading an afternoon ride series of about 25-30 miles starting at 3:45pm. The route will have slight variations each week to keep things interesting. If it rains in the morning, you'll have the option for an afternoon ride instead. If you're aiming to challenge yourself and move up a ride class, this could be a great opportunity to test your riding skills..
text me by 1pm to confirm and I will Text you Route
Can't trust the weather report these days, so maybe it WON'T rain. Check back for cancellation the day before the ride.
Riding to Heckscher from Stony Brook, much of Bobby’s route with extra input from Tom, probably averaging around 13, depending on wind. Snack stop either in park or at bagel store, group decides.
Please text if coming so that I start from Marshall’s, not home. 631-835-1454.

We'll take the north loop outbound and the south loop along Routes 105 and 24 on the return. In between, we'll have a stop at Briermere Farms for some recovery coffee and goodies.
Let's park at the back of the lot, near the tracks so we don't bother the bar patrons...

I am just getting back to riding, so this will be an easy C ride around Center Moriches, that will average 11 - 11.5 and will be taking our break at Nettie's. There are some very nice water views along the way. No one gets dropped and we will be observing spacing rules, etc. Since the exact route will be determined as we go along, there will not be a cue sheet.
The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride you must text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
MEETING LOCATION: straight back from Wendy's and Dunkin Donuts, on the EAST SIDE of the shopping center.
Riders should arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride start, to allow enough time for me to get everyone signed in and to "get yourself" ready.
It is supposed to be windy so please check before leaving for the ride for any changes. I am posting a B but the effort will be more of a B/B+ due to wind/gusts.
This ride is about getting into shape for ride to Montauk. I'll try to keep us out of the wind. Everyone is welcome. Check day of by 8:15 am for any changes.
Looks like it might be another windy day. Check back later in the week for any changes to the distance of the ride. I changed this from a B/B+ to a B due to a few requests!
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride - if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park .I would like to keep the road speed between 15- 16 mph and come in at an average 14 and 14.9. Pulls Always Appreciated

We'll be riding from Blue Pt Brew out to East Hampton to take advantage of a nice forecasted SW tailwind. This is a one-way ride so we will be taking the LIRR back to Patchogue (3:40pm train from East Hampton arrives in Patchogue at 4:53pm). Please bring $$ and/or credit card for train ticket.
This is a very scenic ride and I try to avoid main/busy roads as much as possible. Food/hydration/rest stops approximately every 20 miles (or as needed). No one gets dropped unless they decide to stop. This is a great route because anyone can opt out at any point. You just need to ride to the nearest LIRR station on the Montauk Branch. The 3:40pm train from East Hampton makes all local stops back to Patchogue. Download MTA TrainTime app for all LIRR train schedules.
Pls note that route below goes to Montauk but this ride will end in East Hampton. The next century training ride will go to Montauk.
40 miles of fun. B+/A- pace, 19ish avg. Rest stop at 22 miles at Wildwood Lake. Wait ups as needed. Use the link below to view and/or download the route:

Distance and classification will be the same as what you are used to on a Tuesday afternoon before the tacos. Please arrive ten minutes before the start time and be ready to roll at 3:00. Hope to see you there.

I will wait-up whenever someone falls behind. No one will be dropped. If you want to join me please text me on my cell, 631-655-7801. I will let you know if you are in, or the ride is full. Please provide your name, SBRA, cell, and emergency numbers. Any changes to the ride will be posted by 7:30. The ride will be limited to 12 riders unless there is another ride leader joining me who wishes to split the ride. Once accepted onto the ride if you need to cancel for any reason please text me as early as possible.
In an attempt to catch up to the retired folk who get to train while us poor saps are at work. I have decided to make an evening ride for all who work a typical 9-5 can attend. I plan on doing this as a weekly ride throughout the summer with the only thing changing is the route.
The goal for this ride is to finish with an average pace of around ~17.5mph. There will be brief waitups at the top of every large hill climb (Cordwood, Long Beach and 3 sisters).
Flowerfield offers a large and quiet parking space to start our rides (no bathrooms so take care of that before you arrive). We will be leaving at 530. I should be at the start of the ride by 5:15 (traffic depending).

This ride will go to upper Port. The hills are really short upgrades, just enough resistance to work the legs a bit. Stopping for bagels/coffee at mile 12-ish and then home.
Please let me know if you are joining, so I know if I'm leaving from home or Marshall's. My cell: 631-835-1454.
This ride will be from Heritage Park in Mount Sinai to the Bagel Store in Miller Place where we will take a break, there are a few hills but nothing too hard.
I would appreciate a text if you would like to join me, 631 806-8809
Scenic century training ride to Shleter Island. Riverhead out to Greenport and then ferry to SI. We'll ride past those nice homes along Derring Harbor and hit the Ram Island hills before heading to Sag Harbor via the South Ferry. Tour through Bridgehampton, Watermill and Southampton before returning to Riverhead.
Stops approx every 20-25 miles or as needed. Bring sufficient hydration, food and $$ for ferry.
Pls call or txt if you have any questions (347-922-3824).
This will be between 40 and 45 miles depending upon the weather (ie. winds). I will have a GPS by Saturday, the group will wait for everyone, possible Nettie's on the route. Century and Metric Century riders are welcomed. Call or text if rain or wet roads to see if the ride has been canceled due to the website being in a read only mode. I will try to get the GPS posted before the ride.
A slow, low mileage ride for those who haven't been on their bike much (like me!) or are just starting to ride. Just a short meander around side streets then a short visit to Nettie's Bakery. Please text if you plan to join me otherwise I might just ride by myself around my house. Be sure your tires are inflated properly. Helmets are required. Check back here for any changes which would be posted by 7 am. Park in the lot behind Wendy's but not near the RR tracks.

More to come as I prepare for a business trip this week. Special ride....special time... North route down to the Jets and to the Jail then back past Game Farm
Another training ride in preparation for those big events, like the Bloomin' Metric and the SBRA RxR Century. This will be a paceline ride!
The start is atthe Kreb Cycle in Eastport. The parking lot is hidden down an alleyway behind the store. Please park in the northwest corner of the lot.
We'll again follow parts of the Century's course. This will take us out through Westhampton Beach, Quogue and eventually to Southampton Village. We'll have a food / rest stop in Southampton, before we head our way back west.
The return takes us along Montauk Hwy. back through Shinnecock, and then the rolling terrain of Bay Ave. We'll finish along the loop that takes us past the Casa Basso.
Hopefully there won't be any other surprise road closures!
Sorry no Goldberg's this week, but how about Citarella?

The number of riders is limited, so if you want to ride text me (631-523-2129) with your SBRA Member Number and Emergency Contact phone number. I will respond to your text and let you know if you have a spot on the ride. Once the ride is filled, I will change to post to indicate that.
This will happen the 3rd Tuesday of every month moving forward. We will start ride out of SSM at 5pm ride anywhere from 25-30 miles at a controlled pace at B+/A-. Great opportunity for you to collect some Zone 2 miles. Not a race to give opportunities to others to get miles.
After ride we will pack up and drive over to Medford RT112 and Portion road for some Tacos at Catus cafe for a social snack/dinner.
I organized this ride on Tuesday and I posting it now. We are riding to Manorville then heading to the Beach Bakery in West Hampton. Call me or text me if you are running a few minutes late.
Nice evening meander to include a loop in Hecksher before heading to Islip Beach. There won't be any food stops so please bring a snack and hydration. Please have lights and wear high viz clothing to be seen.
Please send me a quick text (or call) @ 631-521-0688 to let me know if you'll be coming (just in case we need to communicate directly).
No go in rain so check back here or contact me - I will post any changes/cancellations prior to 3:30 pm the day of the ride.
This C+ ride of 18-25 miles will average 11.5-12.5mph. Bring snack/hydration as route depends on wind, tide, position of moon and ride leaders disposition. Newbies welcome and well taken care of and nobody gets left behind. Any cancellation will be by 8:30am. No need to text, email, phone, send message by carrier pidgeon or smoke signal me. Just show up 15-20 minutes before ride start to get your s**t together.
Park in the first lot on the right back at the West end.
Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to the Beach. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there. The average pace for the ride will be between 14 to 15.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction. The road speed will be between 16.0 and 17.0 mph. The usual break-a-ways will happen for those who desire. We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out. Pulls are appreciated.
Enjoy some nice water views and some good pizza. Roughly half the ride is flat (beginning and end) with rolling hills in between. We"ll cruise the flats at 13 mph and go slower going up and faster down. This is a good ride to practice some hills because we will be patient and wait up as needed. Park in the rear of the lot across from LIttle Vincents and join us for arguably one of LI's best pizzas afterward. Pizza is cash only!

Come join us as we head east on a scenic and fun ride with lots of water views and a few different roads as we head from Jamesport to Cuitchogue and Mattituck. We meet in Jamesport at the George Young Community Center, which is just off route 25 - there is a traffc light and a gas staton on the corner by the turn to the Center.

We'll stop for a quick lunch somewhere (probably Sag Harbor).
This will be a true B+ ride. I will not be pushing the upper limits. This ride is intended to help riders build endurance and is not focused on speed.
Pls call or txt if you plan to join or if you have any questions (347-922-3824).
Leave the Kreb Cycle in Eastport for a Century traing ride that will take out to Water Mill for the food stop. NOTE: This will be a paceline ride.
We'll build on the last Century Training Ride, adding in some miles while following the Century course on the outbound loop. The turnaround point will be at Water Mill.
We'll make some changes on the return loop, so pay attention or you may miss a turn!
Let's build on the fun of the last ride and work together, so no one gets dropped!
Last weekend was the cycling monument of Liège–Bastogne–Liège. This weekend is the not so cycling monument of Yaphank Exxon Yaphank. It will be a 42.5mile ride at an A-/A paced ride with a goal of coming in around 20.5mph. However, the main goal is to have a safe and fun time riding on two wheels. The first half of the ride will have some hills but there will be a wait up after Carl Hart Hill and any other spots after that.
I hope to see all of my friends this Saturday. Please don't hesitate to text with questions or to let me know if you're coming. 631-379-6076.

Elaine was on the first SBRA ride I ever attended, in spring of 1988, and the next year I did my first century with her and the Goykins. A few days later, Elaine gave all of the riders in our group an L.A.W. Century patch. Of course, I want to be celebrating Elaine with the group.
Let's travel south to north, stopping at Bean and Bagel for a short coffee break before our return. 15 miles out, 13 back, definitely rolling, we'll ride at a low- to mid-C+ to keep the group together.
We will start our ride at 9:15sharp. Feel free to text with any questions. My cell: 631-835-1454.

Ok, so the ride for Elaine will be a short 20-23 miles at road speeds between 14.5 and 16.0. Why so slow you ask - well Chris and I haven't been riding for a wee bit and we just returned from another Asian jaunt on the 25th. So, if you want to pull us along it would help. The route will be going out to Hampton Bays with a stop at the Beach Bakery. We will just have dessert first and lunch later. Talking about lunch, just keep reading to the end. Oh, about the average; probably somewhere around, ah, who knows, just come and enjoy the roses!

The MTM returns...Manorville to Mattituck. This time we'll leave from the lot across from The Maples.
It looks like partly cloudy skies and high 60s temperatures, so a good day to ride! https://youtu.be/G1jpQu6qR1E Dickey Betts...
We'll take the northern loop out through the fields and take a little trip to The Tanks (careful on the descent)! Then it's a cruise along Sound Avenue to a food stop in Mattituck at around 23 miles. (Probably a Goldberg's).
After the stop, it's a return along Peconic Bay, back to Riverhead and a run up Route 24 to the finish.
Mimsie the MTM pace cat will be watching, so no surges on the front of the paceline! https://youtu.be/a3hROxF1tgc

This ride is hills 101. We ride to the Setauket lighthouse (where we have our snack) and back. There is no bathroom on this ride. New hill riders are welcome. Any questions, please text me at 631-835-1454.
