Under the Ride Level details, the "Type: Road Bike" refers to the ride will be on paved roads (rather then off road trails). Although a Road Bike is suggested for Road Bike Type rides it is not required. Hybrid and mountain bikes can be used on these rides as well provided you are comfortable with the pace outline in the Posted Ride. This ride calendar is for club rides, club meetings, club event posts and shop rides only.

There is snow on the ground now...and more to come tomorrow AM. Therefore, we will meet-up on Zwift instead. I can add you to the Kreb Zwift Meet-up but first you have to follow me on Zwift. Select "Find Zwifters" on the Zwift companion app on your phone, then search me as:
❤️ LISA.VALENTINE
Yup. The ❤️ has to be in there in order to find me, sorry! Once you've followed me on Zwift, please text me at (516) 818-7855 to ask to be added to The Kreb Zwift Meet-up. Sorry for the two-step process but this is the only way right now.
Sorry riders, the weather is not being cooperative. Ride is cancelled. This ride was originally scheduled for 2/28/29. Route and meeting place will be weather dependent, be sure to check the calendar. We will due 2 loops on the Grumman trail, including a stop at Bean and Bagel. The 2 loops will total 20 miles. Upon our return to our cars, those of us who wish to continue will do an additional 5-7 miles. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which will be posted by 08:30am.
We will ride down along Nesconset Hwy for 1/4 mile and enter the woods on BJ's Way. We'll ride past the log ramp and up the first hill and loop back to south most part of the trail. We'll exit the woods at the power line road exit to avoid the rutted berm and drop off.
I plan to follow up the ride with attendance at the Rec Center for lunch AND either of the two Super Cycling Saturday sessions. If you stick around for lunch you will be expected to stick around for one of the sessions ... i.e. lunch on the club is for attendees. BRING A CHANGE OF CLOTHES if your doing lunch and one of the sessions.
Even if you don't think you're at the Intermediate level of Mtn Biking ... come along ... no one is left alone in the woods!!

But it's March and spring is on its way, so let's get out and ride, to Riverhead. We can't promise you Goat's Head Soup, but the Jamaican store could offer you some Jerk Chicken to warm-up! Otherwise, you can have a bagel and / or coffee at the bagel store. Once you've had your snack, we'll head back on some Rolling terrain, to keep warm and avoid the wind.
For this ride, the pace will be a little lower: it's a B/B+, in case any newcomers want to join us. This will be a controlled paceline ride, where everyone works and stays together!
Please check back on this post for any weather related cancellations/changes. There's a possibility of adding more mileage, but will be decided upon everyone's ability and wind conditions.
Update 3/3/2019 – 8:20am. The RIDE is a GO. I think we will use the Around Holbrook route because I just don’t know. This way we can stay between 2 and 4 miles from the start just in case there is an abrupt change in the weather.
I just don’t know what the weather is going to be, the temps at ride time or the road conditions. What I do know – If it’s going to be a nice day with decent ride temps we will either go to Patchogue, Around Holbrook or to Great River. Depending on the route the final mileage will be between 22 and 26 miles. Riders should be prepared to do 26 miles. All choices will include a rest/food/bathroom stop except Around Holbrook, which could be Micky D's or the bagle place after the ride depending on the route taken.
The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 15.0 mph; naturally the road speed will be higher to produce the average.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 9:15am if necessary. If you have question about the ride or the start location please call or text me 631.484.3490…
*we will try again tomorrow, different time and location. * I'll be leading a series of rides that go a little further and faster each week. The purpose is to get into riding shape for a local ride or a century. The pace for today's ride will be 9-11mph. We'll be back for the start of super cycling Saturday. Check back day of for any changes or cancellation by 8:15am.
North Shore Rocks! My Love is all better! We are hugging the shores of Stony Brook, Old Field, Poquott, Strongs Neck & around. I Can't wait until Spring! Our rest stop is at the Sea Port Deli. My cell 631 922-0632 Dress warm!
Sorry for late venue and time change. This ride might be cancelled as I will have my skis in the van..
There's a good chance we will have to park outside the gate on Wlm Floyd.
-------------------------------- Original Posting ----------------------------------
Check back after 7 PM on Sunday to see if this ride venue and/or date is changed due to snow & rain. If too much precip on Sunday night/Monday then there maybe a change AND we will XC SKI in Wildwood (NOT a club event).
There will be snow on the trail so I've reduced the milage and we will pick and choose which Black Diamonds to do. Doubtful to do the entire trail.
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.
Running late? PULL OVER and call my cell below ... we'll wait but make you feel lousy about it ...
Off to Quogue, with some mileage on Dune Road. Several scenic water views along the route. Bathroom stops available at 2 stops along the way, and at our final stop at the Beach Bakery in Westhampton. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am day of ride.
I made little headway at BSP on Monday due to the depth and the warm wet snow, but hoping the cold and evaporation makes this ride a little longer. If the trail is too difficult then I plan to ride the fire roads and if that fails I will try my XC skis or my hiking boots ... both of these are not club events so no milage credit ;-). I intend to enjoy the snowy woods regardless.
There will be snow on the trail so I've reduced the mileage.

All members are welcome. New members are encouraged to attend. Light food and refreshments will be served.
GUEST SPEAKER: Joe Brown, P.E , Regional Director of the Long Island Region of the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will update the club on the new Ocean Parkway Shared Use Path and other current and future improvements to Long Island’s bicycle and pedestrian network. Joe will also discuss the Department of Transportation’s Complete Streets Program and how elements of the Complete Streets program were integrated into the NY 347 Parks to Port Greenway.
Calverton will probably be tracked down fine but riders will determine what BDs are to be done. If Calverton is too tracked with icy tire ruts that I will be heading over to BSP after 9

Well Thunderbirds we threw the dice and they tumbled to a 4 and a 2. So, we'll do the 42 mile loop that takes us to Hampton Bays, where we'll have a stop at the bagel shop for a nosh or a nap (your preference). On the outbound loop we'll take the long run down Route 24, and on the return we'll do some rolling terrrain, including the Casa Basso.
Haven't ridden in weeks so this will be an easy paced C ride. We will stop at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge for the bathroom and a short break (bring water and a snack). Weather is changeable this time of year so check back for any changes to this ride which would be posted by 7 am.
We will be leaving Bank of American in East Islip heading to Great River and East Islip area. Then we will head to Islip Beach. We will be stopping at McDonalds around mile 21 for our break. Any questions call Mike at 516 448-8545
This is a B- ride with an average speed of 14.5 to 15 mph, road speeds may reach 17-18mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 8:00am day of ride.
We will be starting from Holtsville. They are not charging until the end of May so disregard the blurb about the fee in the description. We will be going out to Manorville and breaking at around the 20 mile mark. Average should be mid B (15.5) with moving speeds around 16-17.5 mph..Please check the morning of the ride for any changes weather related!
We will head out and loop around to the McDonald’s in Center Moriches. From there we will head north and take a break in South Haven Park . Any cancellations will be posted by 7 AM Saturday morning
This ride will be at the lower end of an A ride as we are really just getting back into it. Saying that I hope a ride leader will step forward and add a tag along to this ride so I can do my thing with the rest of the group.
My plan is to go out easy and not push it for the first half. After the first rest stop we have 51 and 111 and I really dont want to stop on 51. This is where I am hoping another ride leader steps forward. We should be together at this point. I don't plan on hammering 51 but I really don't want to stop. And of course as always on Line Road different groups may form depending on your level of fitness.
This ride is not a race but an endurance ride. If you go out to hard you may have to cut the ride short so plan carefully. If you stay with me you should be fine.
This endurance ride will follow Jim's Vitamin D 50 ride as close as possible at the higher end of a B+/A ride. The idea is that both groups stay together for the first half. After the rest stop we do 51 and 111. I will be leading the group taking the hill on 51 at a slower pace than the fast climbers. We will regroup at the traffic light if needed. After we finish 51 we will take a steady moderate pace on 111. As always, different groups may form on Line Rd. depending on your level of fitness.
IMPORTANT: If this winter you have not been riding at all or you have done very few rides you may have to cut this one short. If that is the case, I will have to stay with the group and you will be on your own. Plan carefully, don't go out too hard, pace yourself and take quick pulls if any
This morning it might be nice to take a ride through Bellport and Patchogue stopping for a break at Mickey D’s around mile 20. The average pace will be between 14.0 to 15.0 mph depending on the roads, wind direction, dew point, and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. Depending on the wind and the route back we might be +/- a mile.
Good Stuff after the Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about this ride.
If the Grumman Trail is snow free, we will use the trail for part of this ride. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:30am.
Time changed to 11AM. We are heading east to the Kings Pk. Bluff, then back west to Eatons Neck & around the north shore. A short rest stop approximately half way TBD. This is a new route for us, so please be willing to explore. My cell 631 922-0632
Maybe we'll see Bill and his TBC on their way out! We'll certainly appreciate the wind on the way back. This will be a slow B/B+ (i.e. closer to a B pace than a B+ but still a paceline). Bagel stop at the SSM.

This will be a nice ride around the Holbrook area. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 15.0 mph; naturally the road speed will be higher to produce the average. If it's a real nice day we might add a mile, or two, or three. We can all go for coffee and a bagel at the end of the ride and chat if you want. If the route changes a bit we could stop at Micky D's. We'll see.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. If you have question about the ride or the start location please call or text me 631.484.3490…
One stop and will wait up when necessary. Keeping together, yes even on the hills. Save the hill sprints for John's hill ride. This is for endurance so most of the group stay together. Pace will be on the low end of an A ride as we build up our endurance.
Need to try to get some miles in during the week. Short easy ride, likely to Patchogue. Check back for any changes which would be posted by 7am that day. I might move it a little later. Park in lot diagonally across from Kreb Cycle.
*Dedicated to Barbara Westrich Falkman — this was her favorite club ride. I will miss her energy and her passion.*
On Tuesdays we’ll be riding the hills north of Stony Brook, getting up to B- average over the coming months. If you are interested in getting better at hills and can do a C+ pace, now is the time to join us. To start this series, we’ll do a low C+ on the flats and everyone will bike at his own ability (or lack thereof) on the hills. Take the hills at your own pace and we’ll meet at the top. No pressure there.
We go from the ride start to the lighthouse in Old Field. We have our break there at the overlook, so bring your own snack. There is no bathroom stop on this ride.
Questions before ride, please email me at [frchtchr@hotmail.com]. Morning of ride, my cell is 631-835-1454. Ride cancellation for weather will be no later than 8:30 am morning of ride.
We will be leaving Bank of America and head to Great River and East Islip for a 20 mile ride. The ride will be at a B- pace with an average speed of around 14.5 to 15mph and road speeds that will reach 16 to 18mph.
Changes or cancelation will be posted by 1:30pm day of ride.
If you have any questions concerning this ride, call Mike at 516 448-8545.
I plan to do the whole trail ... let's hope it has healed from the ruts ... the roots are just another technical challenge.

For a change, let’s go to Yaphank today… The average pace for the ride will be between 14.0 and 15.0 mph. The road speed on this ride will be between 15 and 16.5 mph. depending on the roads, wind direction, and other conditions. There is a nice break-a-way before the deli for those who want to go.
Around mile 20 there will be a rest stop at the deli and then we’ll head back. Depending on conditions we might add a mile or two; no more than that.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about this ride or need directions to the start.
Its time to get rolling, shake off the cob webbs, get my old bones moving and enjoy being with the best people you could ever meet! New members are definately welcome on my rides. We will break for coffee, bagels, and fellowship at B&B. This is my first ride since November of last year so I'll need all the help I can get! I listed this ride as rolling but Im flexible.
We will be leaving Bank of American in East Islip heading to Great River and East Islip area. Then we will head to Islip Beach. Please bring your snacks and drinks for this ride. Any questions call Mike at 516 448-8545
This is a B- ride with an average speed of 14.5 to 15 mph, road speeds may reach 17-18mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 2:00pm day of ride.
Off to Quogue, with some miles on Dune Road. Break at the Westhampton Bakery. For info: contact Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar the day of the ride for changes, which would be posted by 08:00am.
Today's Mi Tierrita ride will be going to Smith’s Point. The route is mostly flat with a small incline here and there and of course the Woodside bigger incline. The average pace for the ride will be 14.5 to 15.0 +/- mph, depending on the roads, wind direction. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.5 mph.
We'll stop along the way for a bathroom break around mile 10. Don’t forget to bring a snack for the beach stop. Do you know what AGUAPANELA is? Come and find out; PARKING: Use the area of the parking lot on the SOUTH side first.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 8:30 am if necessary. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about the ride or need directions to the start...
Noon meander around the side roads of Center Moriches, East Moriches. Short stop-bring snack and drink. Just trying to get some easy miles in to get the legs moving.
Same ride as last weekend. Hopefully we take the first 15 miles a little easier so we have something for the end.
My plan is to go out easy and not push it for the first half. After the first rest stop we have 51 and 111 and the pace will probably will pick up. There will be a wait up on 51. Both groups should be together at this point.. And of course as always on Line Road different groups may form depending on your level of fitness.
This ride is not a race but an endurance ride. If you go out to hard you may have to cut the ride short so plan carefully. If you stay with me you should be fine. Ron (Tico) will be leading a B+/A tag along ride.
Make sure you download or are familiar with the route.
Another endurance ride at the higher end of a B+/A following Jim's Calverton 51 route. The idea is that both groups stay together for the first half. Then we go onto CR 51 and 111. We will regroup at the traffic light after the hill on 51 and then take a steady moderate pace on 111. As always, different groups may form on Line Rd depending on your level of fitness.
IMPORTANT: If this winter you have not been riding at all or you have done very few rides you may have to cut this one short. If that is the case, I will have to stay with the group and you will be on your own. Plan carefully, don't go out too hard, pace yourself and take quick pulls if any
(A rare video from the Rock and Roll Circus, when the Stones included Brian Jones).
It's like that with rides, you might find this one has what you need. We'll have some long runs for pacelines, the long rise up County Road 104, the return up the Casa Basso rise and the Hart's Road Hump. Hopefully enough challenges to satisfy all you Thunderbirds.
For refueling, we'll stop again in Hampton Bays at around 24 miles, so plan on bringing some snacks with you!
We will be leaving East Islip BOA and head to the Great River area. Then we will make our way to the Babylon Dock area. Then returning to the bank. Our break will be in Babylon or East Islip, the group will decide. Please note: The Baker will Irish Soda for us after the ride.
This is a B ride with an average speed around 15 to 16 mph, road speeds may reach 16-20mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 7:30am day of ride.
I am planning to do the Metric Century so will be leading rides that increase in mileage gradually. But anyone can do any rides I post. Park in overflow lot for a ride to Bellport. Check back here for any changes which would be posted by 7 am. I need to be sure no parades are happening in the area.
This route Heckscher may change up a bit towards the end of the ride if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We’ll be heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.0 & 15.0 . The road speed will be between 15 and 16.5 mph
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 at the deli/bakery. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. Good Stuff after the Ride. Not sure what good stuff; it's always a surprise.
Any cancellations due to unforeseeable circumstances, or weather related problems will be posted by 8:00am. If you have any questions about this ride, or the start location, please call or text my cell, 631-484-3490.
Tim Mayer will be leading this ride with a few changes. This is a repeat of last weeks ride. We all loved it. Heading east to the Kings Park Bluff. Then back west to Makamah Beach, Asharoken & Eaton's Neck. The rest stop is about 20 miles in at a Bagel/Deli on 25A. A nice mix of hills, rollers & flats. Approximate elevation 2300, so says Strava. We may add in one more long steady climb. Riding at a slower pace to allow for the hill training. We came in at 13.6 last week. My cell 631 922-0632
Given the strong winds we may shorten ride and can decide along the way
I'm combining the Coram to Shoreham with my Longwood Loop. We will head to Shoreham Beach via Whiskey Rd. On way back we can stop at Bagel place for bathroom, water, snack; then head back to Whiskey to go south on Smith and do Longwood loop. There is one hill at Longwood school otherwise this ride will be flat and rolling. I don't know how to do ride with gps so i guesstimated mileage which should be close. Please check back by 9 am morning of for any changes.
Since its early in season i've dropped pace to C+ for those of us needing to get back our legs and seats! Please bring water & snacks.
Joe S. had to cancel his "C" ride, so I have changed my ride to a "C" and was able to move the start a little earlier - 10:45 AM.
Just back from a ski trip, so lets take an easy meander around Calverton and Manorville, with a good part on the bike path and the new extension back to the parking lot. The temperature should be very nice and, if it is windy, this route will keep us on many roads that are not out in the open. We will take our break at Bean & Bagel, where you may snack and use the bathroom.
I am not using my road bike, so feel free to bring your hybrid or fat tire, if you have one. The ride will average 11.8 - 12.0, with cue sheets.
This ride will be led by Dan Rostrup. Heading east on Canal Rd., to Whiskey Rd., to Ridge Rd., to 25A making the loop back west at Grumman Memorial Pk. onto 25, to Floyd then back on Whiskey etc. Taking a quick rest stop only if anyone needs. Wanting to make this a safe & quick B+ ride. My cell 631 922-0532 Please check in for any changes. PARK by TJMax side lot on Canal Rd.
I plan to do the North end of the Intermediate trail to avoid the ruts at the South end. Near the end of the Intermediate I probably jump to the Advance trail at the last BD on the west side of the fire road.
Subscribe to this posting and get an email one hour after any changes ELSE check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.

Join me for this ride around Holbrook, Ronkonkoma, and Bohemia, then down to Sayville and back up to Holbrook and the ride start. We will take our break at the Gourmet Bagel Co. on Lakeland Ave., where beverages, food, and a bathroom are available. I will adjust the route direction for the most favorable winds.
I am not using my road bike, so feel free to bring your hybrid or fat tire bike, if you have one.
This will be a low paced C+ ride, which will average 12.0 - 12.4.
Rescheduled from Saturday to today. Cancellation for any reason will be posted by 7AM.
Route is similar, but not exactly like Henry's ride from the same location last weekend. Food/rest stop will be at the McD's in Center Moriches around mile 18. Due to some rolling terrain on this route and the fact that I haven't led a ride since November I am posting it as a C+ instead of C+/B- but I am hoping to come in at the high end of the range. Cancellation for any reason will be posted by 7:30AM.
As of 3/15/2019....Ride ha been cancelled...Please check back on it being re-posted for the near future...Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Please park in front of the Northwell Health-GoHealth Urgent Care (I googled the address to find the place easier: 434 Union Blvd, West Islip, NY 11795). We’ll be riding to the Great River deli, if time permits and the group agrees we can do a loop around the park. I have a party to get to later, as I'm sure others do as well so we'll play it by ear to see how it goes. Please arrive early to air up your bike tires and be prepared to leave on time.
Please check back on this post for any changes/cancellations
We will be leaving Bank of American in East Islip heading to Great River and East Islip area. Then we will head to Sayville. We will be stopping at McDonalds in Bohemia around mile 23 for our break. Any questions call Mike at 516 448-8545
This is a B- ride with an average speed of 14.5 to 15 mph, road speeds may reach 17-18mph. Check the ride calender for any changes posted by 8:00am day of ride.
May the wind always be at your back... An Irish proverb that sure applies to cyclists.
Join us for a ride out to O'Riverhead, as we search for some Irish soda bread or at least some green bagels. This is going to be a nice easy-paced B/B+ paceline ride with the pace under control. It's a chance for us to recovery from Saturday's ride or Saturday night, and have a little fun before Monday's return to work.
So to enjoy this ride:
1. Show up on a green bike or wear a green jersey, or just show-up.
Our second ride in this series to get you ready for spring no matter how far you wish to go. Cruising speed will be 11-12mph. No one will be left behind.
The Rocky Point ST. Patrick's Parade will be today from 1 -4. I suggest everyone avoid Rte 25A from west to east to Calverton as traffick will be heavy and roads closed. Even Whiskey Rd may have traffic. Not sure about Rte 25 but surely better option. If you are coming from Northwest of Calverton plz allow extra time to get there and ride home will be right during the parade so be prepared for potential delays and avoid traveling thru RP.
_______
Let's go green for St Patrick's Day and ride in the woods with Mother Nature. Get out your mountain bikes or fat tires. The plan will be to do the Main Trail and depending on how the group feels we can do the softer black diamonds. If some want to do diamonds the rest can wait up at the forks. Please bring plenty of water and some snacks. No deli stop in the woods. The actual mileage will depend on whether and how many diamonds we do. While this is forecasted to be the cooler day of the weekend, remember it feels much warmer in the woods as there is little or no wind so dress accordingly.
Join me for a St Paddy's day ride. Loop to the beach. Please bring snacks and drink as there will be no food stop. Bathroom stop at the beach. Contact me with any questions 516-557-4100
Note the ride will start from the EAST parking lot on Mill ... Otherwise known as the "normal" start for SBRA.
Time for the Rock Garden + I plan to do most of the other BDs including the Wild Turkey berm + the new section of #6.
Overton has a number of diamonds that are do-able by Intermediate riders ... Got 6 Minutes, BD #1, #2 and #5. There are waitups and the BD's always loop back to the Blue main.
The trail will not be that quiet as I expect the metal crushing or fertilizer grinding ;-( to be going on .
Check back to this posting before leaving for the ride as Life Happens and Things Change.

This is the long-running Kreb Shop "A" Ride. This week, route is to The Maples.
Please park your car in the Bellport Municipal Parking Lot located at Bellport Lane & Bell Street, and then ride bike half a block over to the Kreb Bike Shop parking lot at 10 Bell Street, to sign-in for ride and hear the pre-ride briefing.
We do scheduled wait-ups (and as necessary), in addition to one brief rest stop halfway through ride. Please bring adequate drinks and nutrition, as the rest stop occurs in a parking lot (no food/drinks/restrooms available).
Let's do some training for the Century, T-Birds style! Join the Thunderbirds as we get ready to ride the Century at a decent pace. Each CTR (Century Training Ride), will get a little longer, so we will have the speed endurance needed for the big ride.
This week, our ride will have a little less distance than we've been riding, in case any new riders want to join us. After this, the mileage GOES UP! We'll ride some of our favorite rollers, ride in a paceline, visit Area 51 and maybe throw in an intermediate sprint. The idea being, that we'll train for those long miles of the Century, and still have that ability to sprint over the finish line!
There will be a fuel stop at around 22 miles in Riverhead, so bring two water bottles and some gels to keep your energy levels up throughout the ride.
The routes will have as few traffic lights as possible, so plan on riding without stopping - except for flats. fuel and regroups.
Let's switch it up this week with a new ride start location, Maples Bar in Manorille. It is hard this time of year to give an exact pace or average, since we never know what Mother Nature will present to us. I expect to come in at the middle of a B average. Fewer stops this week except after a short climb and some rollers.
Join me for this C ride from Sayville - destination will be either Bellport or Ronkonkoma - to be determined by the prevailing winds . We will have a bathroom stop and take a break somewhere.
This is a structured ride which will average around 12, depending on wind, riders, etc.
NOTE: Park on the South Side of the train station, across the street.
This ride is part of the Beginner Century Training Series. Please do not choose this as a ride for the day. You must be preregistered for the whole series with the goal or riding the Montauk Century.
The wind today is predicted to be 20-25 mph. If the wind drops down to the mid-teens this ride will be a go. If not I will cancel the ride.I have changed the pace some due to the wind. With this route I can change it up in many ways to avoid some of the wind. If it does get too windy after the start we can always shorten it; group decides.
Anyway, this will be a nice ride around the Holbrook area. The average pace for this ride will be between 13.0 & 14.0 mph; naturally the road speed will be higher to produce the average. We can all go for coffee and a bagel at the end of the ride and chat if you want. If the route changes a bit we could stop at Mickey D's. We'll see.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. If you have question about the ride or the start location please call or text me 631.484.3490…
East Islip BoA to the famous Copenhagen bakery in Northport where we will have our food/rest stop. This ride is posted as a B/B+ due to effort required for the hills, however, average speed come in more like a "B" level ride. Consider this early season "hill trainiing" for intermediate level riders. We will cover the Vanderbilt rollers and hills in Northport, Fort Solonga/Kings Park and Smithtown.
No one gets dropped. Wait-up's at the top of each hill. Water breaks as needed.
This ride will begin at the Bellport Municipal lot, we're heading to the Dunkin Donuts in Oakdale, depending on the group and how we all feel, there's a possibility of adding an extra mile or two by doing some extra loops. Hopefully the weather will be warmer and it would be nice to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine so let's enjoy and not rush the pace. All I ask is that you're prepared to leave on time :) and join me for a relaxing morning ride.
As always, please check back on this post for weather related changes/cancellations.
Join me for this ride around Manorville and Calverton, with a good part on the bike path and the new extension back to the parking lot. If it is windy, this route will keep us on many roads that are not out in the open. We will take our break at Bean & Bagel, where you may snack and use the bathroom.
I am not using my road bike, so feel free to bring your hybrid or fat tire, if you have one. The ride will average 12 - 12.4, with cue sheets.
Today's’ route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park, do a loop where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired. The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 +/- mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.5 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.

UPDATE:3/27/19
At this point, I plan to do the 40 mile ride. I intend to start increasing mileage in the following weeks in preparation for the Montauk Century. Weather permitting, I will vary the routes for these training rides. Variety is the spice of life, right?
I would hope that you will download and put the Ride with GPS file on your bike computer so that I'm not the only one who knows where we are going. This is the file: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29569118
I haven't published a route before; therefore, I hope that when you paste it into your browser the route will show up.
