Come on out and view the other lighthouse before you push onto MTK next weekend. This will be a nice scenic flat to rolling ride of the north fork with Orient being the destination. To those riders who enjoyed the Orient Express hopefully that ride will be pulling out again after the MTK century. So if you want to come out and restore the spirit and refresh the legs for the MTK century come on out . NO go rain or heavy winds so Plz check back. Any questions Plz call or text 631 626 3900. This will be my second night ride at Glacier this year ... IF YOU THINK YOU'LL RIDE ... Please let me know ... 631-988-6557 or
nsamuels"at" optonline.net. I did last month's ride alone ... if I don't hear from anyone this time, I may cancel/delete the ride at any time.
Depending on the group that shows the list of expected BDs may be modified. I plan an easy night ride. NO ONE GETS DROPPED in the woods at night. Wait-ups at each diamond.I figure to do CR83 (N &S), Sidewinder, The Ridges, Hunter's Trail, and White Ghost ... maybe we'll get lucky again and see the eight glowing green eyes at the entrance to White Ghost trail . We'll be starting just about sunset, so lights are a necessity ... if you have a bar light AND a helmet light you will have no problems. The long range forecast is not totally promising so think good weather and CHECK BACK here a day or two in advance and ON THE DAY OF THE RIDE to verify there are no changes. Dependent on the weather I may even shift the day/time of the ride to the following evening. Here's a link to CLIMB's map: http://www.climbonline.org/pdf/glacier_ridge_west-east_8x11_05-01-08.pdf ... Make a copy and be prepared!

Refreshments / Coffee stop at Jamesport Duffys Deli, brief stop/reassembly as needed at IPBP and other key locations. [/][/b]
Looking for a good base level A (but up to A+, AA at times) pace. No one getting dropped.
In general I want to see this smooth super efficient team effort to optimize time!!! Smooth but fast in general. Little playing allowed at the few dedicated hilly sections (you will find out). Reassembly after that -- always, no worries.
** Come for a training ride -- "as fast as you are working with me" **
I classified it back down to A all-over -- but we will go some sections at A+..AA pace for sure (if you go and work with me) -- A and good B+ riders are always welcome, may form a trailing group, if any? -- learn how to work as a team!! -- we will have some wait ups (on top of the 1st lil hill if needed) but we will not wait on every turn -- as I also classified it as TEAM, what means exactly this -- stay all together as much as possible and help each other for most efficiency and best pace w/o dropping any one -- regardless, unless on riders request or extreme mismatch.... -- you better be able sit in easy at 19..21mph and try to handle a few faster sections (slow down afterwards for reassembly) -- have fun!
Rocky Point 2 Iron Peer Beach Park for quick snack watching the sound and reassembly, Coffee/Refreshments now in Jamesport Duffys Deli. Watch for weather related updates or delays -- will post any change or cancellations by very latest start time -1 hour at the day of ride, if unsure, contact me. Let's Go Flying. Starts promptly as indicated on top at Tildas Bake Shop, typical moving time 2h45..3h depending on you. Starts out with some rollers on North Country Rd to warm up, will go fast, but will do the best to reassemble group after 1st climb(s) and as needed, group stays together as a Team AND SHARES THE WIND if any and has fun like few flying birds! Read here for past ride logs, stories, photos and details: http://pyzahl.blogspot.com/search?q=RP2IPBP
However, this is a team style training ride, lean and execute team play, work together not to show off -- with exception of a few designated sections to play... with following regrouping.

This is a long post; please click “read more” at the bottom for the entire post and additional links, thanks! I heard from some members who have done this ride in the past it’s a good course. I would like to get a group together, for what appears to be a fun day.

However, I will be doing a B- at my usual average pace within the range. . If you don't want to do a B- pace then you might prefer to form another group ( see Tricia's post & Bob Miller's ) with riders of your own level. Yes, you have to dig in the pocket for some money; it’s for a good cause. Check the link below for more information about the ride and how to make a donation.

Please check again in the morning to see if there is a delayed start or cancellation if it rains overnight and the roads are wet in the morning. The forecast is not looking great..
Repeat of last weeks ride to Manorville. After Memorial Day the Ecology Center will be charging entry fees for the summer so this will be the last post for me out of this location for the summer. I am working on an alternative start close to here so look out for those posts.
Pace will be around 15.7-16.0 average and we will all stay together. Check for any changes the night before or morning of the ride.

Leave the Manorville King Kullen to ride with John Shea's Early Bird group. Expect an 18+ average. Deli stop near mid-point. Most likely the traditional North Route straight out to Mattituck.
Due to time constraints I have to change the ride location for this ride. We will be doing the Sunshine to Manorville ride today instead of the Green door. I will save that for a weekend that is not a Holiday! So we will go out to Manorville and back stopping at our favorite watering hole Mc Donalds!
The Green Door is open! This will be a nice scenic ride to the Green Door where we will stop for a break and get a bite to eat. Average speed will be 15.6-16 mph depending on a head wind or tail wind. If the Green Door is packed we will find somewhere else to eat along the way. Check for any changes the night before or morning of the ride.

About 2 miles from the end of the ride we are going to stop and have some yogurt, or ice-cream, with or without toppings, or coffee. Then sit back, enjoy, BS, and watch the world go by; not all day, just for 20 minutes or so, since I know you want to get back for the bar-b-que.

(Not asking too much am I?) It’s back to Smith Point beach. We can make a brief bathroom stop at Wertheim Wildlife Refuge. As we near Smith Point, while some head on down to the beach, those that want something to eat or drink can stop at 7-11 for something to bring for their break. It should be a faster B- pace depending on the weather conditions. There will also me a couple of “go at your own pace” sections.
Due to the Riverhead Farmers Market blocking the Riverhead parking lot (so kindly pointed out by Joe M) I have moved the ride to the Jamesport Community Center. the distance drops to about 46 miles
This is the old Three Point ride but we will start at Riverhead waterfront to add some miles. Ride at the lower end of the B range, depending on the wind. Bring fluids and suntan lotion. Lunch stop at Southold deli on Rt 48. Other stops as needed. My cell is 646-643-6856
I tend to be long winded so click "read more" on the bottom for the entire post. - It’s a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg, Westhampton Beach, and points east. The wind direction will determine the route to be taken. If we have a West wind we will use Dune Road (wind at our back 8 miles) as part of the route. If the wind doesn’t cooperate we will use an inland route which is just as nice.
We’ll make a rest/food stop at Tully’s around mile 20 for some great clam chowder or fishy stuff. Peddle another 13 miles to the Beach Bakery for some sweet goodies or a bagel and then go back to the start. The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5-15.0 mph depending on wind and other factors.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30AM if necessary. My cell# is 631.484.3490; call anytime if you have questions about this ride, or need directions to the start.
Meet on the east end of the parking lot, south of the Wendy's. Mileage is approximate, could turn out to be closer to 30. Food/rest stop at McD's in Manorville.
Join us as we explore the coves, bays and inlets surrounding Shelter Island and Sag Harbor. There are constant waterside views and scenic vistas on this hilly and lightly traveled route. We will take the North ferry and ride the West perimeter of the Island to the South ferry. On the South fork we will have lunch in Sag Harbor, then ride through the Northwest woods and Three Mile Harbor road. Ferry back to Shelter Island and ride the East perimeter along Gardiners bay including the causeways leading to the Ram Islands. Keep in mind there will be ups and downs throughout the ride. Total round trip fare for both ferries including your bike is $11.00 per person. Cell # is 212 466 9330.
