After all the booze-related rides on Saturday, the title seemed appropriate...
Get up and get ready for a detox ride out to Briermere Farms, leaving the South St. School in Manorville. At Briermere, you can enjoy some pie or cookies with your aspirin. To increase your circulation and futher help flush those toxins out of your body, we've added in some rolling terrain on the trip out to Briermere. (I hear blueberries are good source of vitamins and antioxidants, so they might be the pie/fruit of choice, after Saturday...).
Plan on a quick stop at Briermere to hydrate, hit the bathrooms and get ready for the return trip.
OK, JUST JOKING about the booze, WE ALL KNOW THAT EVERYONE IN SBRA KNOWS HOW TO CONTROL THEMSELVES! BUT, WE WILL STILL HAVE A RIDE TO BRIERMERE!

We'll change-up the ride to Briermere Farms with a route change. This week, we'll return along the river road, for a change of scenery. The eastbound loop will include a section of the windy fields we love so much.
So meet at the South Street School and get ready for another trip to Briermere. As always, let's keep the group together, so no one is left alone in the wind...we'll give you a place or two to stretch your legs.
Check the morning of the ride for any weather-related delays or cancellation; the weather is unpredictable these days.
This will be the start of the Seagull Century training rides. You don’t have to be doing the century to go on any of these rides. However, if you would like to know more about this century click on this link - http://seagullcentury.org/ For some riders who did the century last year click on this link - http://seagullcentury.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/SGC_Brochure_Final_17.pdf - to see if you are in the 2017 Seagull Century registration brochure group photo.
Now, let’s talk about the training rides. Each week the ride will increase by 5 miles; give or take. This way you won’t feel so bad when you eat that extra donut. By the time all the training rides are completed I’m sure you’ll be able to do an easy 100 miles on a flat scenic course. Since these training rides are a shared effort I would hope that riders would come forward and help in the pulling. During the weeks I am unable to ride Chris Musso will be taking my place.
The first ride will be the one I did a few weeks ago; chowder/desert. It’s a scenic ride through Eastport, Remsenburg, Westhampton Beach and points east. The wind direction will determine the route to be taken. If we have a westerly wind we’ll use Dune Road as part of the route; great for those break-a-ways. If the wind doesn’t cooperate we’ll use the inland route which is different, but just as nice.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 and 15.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction, the ride could come in a tad faster, meaning in the lower “B” range.
We’ll be making a rest, food, and bathroom stop at Tully’s around mile 22 for some great clam chowder or other stuff. Peddle for another 10 miles or so and we stop at the Beach Bakery for desert. After that, another 7 miles and training ride one is "under your belt". If this all sounds like fun, it is, come out and join us.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute changes which will be posted no later than 7:30am. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call or text if you need additional information about the ride, start location or the Seagull Century…Thanks
Ride to Northport with rest stop at the famous Copenhagen Bakery in Northport. Grab a coffee and your favorite bakery item and we'll sit by the harbor for about 15mins before heading back.

The weather's getting warmer so make sure you have water, also bring a snack as the route is not set until I get there.
Park in lot on South Side of RR across from school field.
Today’s route to Great River will change up a bit towards the end of the ride, if the wind is in our favor; making this route pretty flat except for 2 overpasses. We will go the usual route heading south using the Connetquot Park bike bath. We’ll work our way down to Heckscher Park and do a loop there where one can stretch the legs a bit if desired.
The average pace for this ride will be between 14.5 & 15.0 mph, or what conditions allow. The road speed will be between 15 and 16.0 mph, or slower if needed for safety concerns.
We’ll be making a rest stop around mile 19 and the deli/bakery unless you want to go to McDonalds or Starbucks at mile 25. The route back will be determined by the wind direction. After the ride there will be GOOD stuff.
Please DO NOT Park in the Meat Farms parking lot.
Any changes will be posted no later than 7:30am, if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call or text anytime if you have questions or need directions to the ride start...Thanks

Nice ride to Shoreham to overlook the sound, and back again. We'll be back in the parking lot by 10:15, barring any issues. There are no bathroom facilities on this route, and Dunkin Donuts is no longer letting us use their bathroom, so plan accordingly. Park near the DD however. Ride will come in at approximately 14 MPH. Rain, heat or high humidity will cancel. Check back at 6:30 AM for any changes. Call my cell if you have any questions.
Upper 17s final avg. Trying for the elusive 18s. Mostly flat except for Ponquogue Bridge and easy rolloers in Eastport on the way back. Bonus 10 miles if group is game to ride to Cupsogue. Number below is house so no texts. Dave will sleep through his own snoring so the phone will not wake him.

THE FOCUS OF THE RIDE IS TO IMPROVE YOUR SKILLS. IT IS A TRAINING RIDE, NOT A RACE FROM POINT TO POINT.
This is a weekly ride for those interested in strengthening their hill climbing. Each week there will be an increase in the difficulty as riders get stronger. During the hill portion of the ride, there will be no sweep; however, there will be frequent wait ups, and no one will be dropped.
A word about the ride level. It's listed as a B-; however, that will be dependent on the weather and the ability of those who show up.
Ride from the Sayville Train Station to the Bellport Docks via the Patchogue waterfront. This will be a moderate B pace with a chance to stretch your legs on South Country Road. A short water/snack break at the Bellport docks. Any changes posted by 3:30 pm

I'll be at ride start. My plan is to shorten ride and change up route to get in a few hills but be back 11 or before. It's not supposed to be raining until then!!

I believe this is what the old BBB route was before the town of Southold placed restrictions on organized group rides. If this is not the exact route, it should be somewhat close to it. We will ride from Riverhead to Greenport and then take the north ferry to Shelter Island (SI). We will tour some of the nicer parts of SI (my favorite is Dering Harbor and Ram's Head) as we travel south to the North Haven ferry. Once back on the mainland we will head to Sag Harbor for a rest stop before heading back up to Riverhead. It's possible that we may do this loop in reverse depending on where we would like to stop for lunch. We'll decide as a group on rest stops and lunch at ride start.
You will need "cash" for the ferry plus some $$ for lunch.
Off to Westhampton Beach, Cupsogue County Park, and Quogue. Scenic break with bathroom stop at Cupsogue, view stop in Quogue, and an obligatory stop at the Westhampton Bakery. For info: text/call: Bill G. at 631-356-3036. Check the ride calendar day of ride for changes, which would be posted by 07:15am. There will be several opportunities for faster riders to sprint ahead of the group on the Dune Road segment of the ride.
This morning it might be nice to take a ride through Bellport and Patchogue stopping for a break at Mickey D’s around mile 20. The average pace will be between 14.5 to 15.0 mph depending on the roads, wind direction, dew point, and other conditions. Naturally, the road speed will be higher (15 -16.5 mph.) to produce the average. Depending on the wind and the route back we might be +/- a mile.
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted no later than 7:30am if necessary. My cell phone number is 631-484-3490; call or text anytime if you have questions about this ride...ThanksBobby

Scenic ride to the Smithtown beaches, definitely a challenge because of the hills.... but its sloo and worth the effort. Plus, its fun. Purfect ride to develop hill skills.
Likely rain and a credible thunderstorm threat means canceling this morrning!
A flat ride to places of historical interest around Smith's Point. The Manor of St George offers a breath taking view of Bellport Bay. We will visit the Beach at Smith's Point and then the William Floyd mansion. The original building at the Manor of St George was built before 1700. William Floyd was a signer of the Declaration of Independence and parts of the mansion were built in the very early nineteenth century. This will be a very moderately paced ride with no one left behind. Bring Snacks for breaks at the beach and at the William Floyd Mansion. The driveway to the Manor of St George is graveled in some sections so a hybrid bike is nice although I have biked the driveway on a skinny tired bike with no trouble.
UPDATE – 7:25am – 8/18/17 – Looks like we are going to have rain this morning. The ride is cancelled, see you tomorrow. Thanks, Bobby
This will be a little neighborhood ride around Holbrook. It would be perfect for those just starting out for the season, or anyone who would like to join me before a longer weekend ride. SISTA ACT RIDE!!! FOR SISTERS ONLY! LADIES, LET'S GET TOGETHER RIDE. AFTER THE RIDE, SUGGESTION #1, WHOOPIE IT UP AT CEDAR BEACH (45 RPMS PLAYING... not one of my favs, but I'm sure we can have some serious fun.)...OR... WE CAN JUST HEAD OVER TO WEST MEADOW BEACH WITH OUR COOLERS AND HAVE A QUIET EVENING. WE CAN DECIDE ON SITE AFTER THE RIDE. IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE RIDE, COME TO THE BEACH. TXT US AS TO WHERE WE WILL BE. HOPING OTHER "FEMALE" RIDE LEADERS WILL POST A RIDE SO WE CAN ACCOMMODATE A FEW RIDE LEVELS. MY CELL 631922-0632
Easy pace! Save it for the birds! We will keep a steady pace and not push it (save it for tomorrow). We will "visit" 24 heading north. It has been paved over and looks to be very smooth (read between the lines). That is a good section to ride hard (for those you who forgot your reading glasses)!
Had a relapse and was not riding for awhile, so taking it a little slow to get back on the bike. Mostly flat except for Ponquogue Bridge and easy rolloers in Eastport on the way back. Bonus 10 miles if group is game to ride to Cupsogue. This is not a feeding frenzy ride. This is a fat burning ride. QUICK pit stop at Tullys. Water stops as needed. After the ride is over, some of us will go to the Blue Point Brewery. If you care to join us, please bring some snacks to share and, if you choose, you may sample some of their wonderful beers. There is a deli across the street for sandwiches, and sometimes there is a food truck right at the brewery.
Park in the south end of the lot, nearest Montauk Hwy. We will either go to Quogue or Manorville, not sure yet. There will be a food stop on either ride.
Were off to Briermere for the rest stop, speed will be determined by the wind, who shows up, how the leader feels that day, not to exceed the SBRA guidelines for a C paced ride, no one left behind, Cell Phone 631-484-1650 call for info 7am-8pm.
Today’s route will be almost the same as Seagull Train 1. The difference will be a few extra streets in order to get 45 or 46 miles. Hopefully Dune road will be better this week
During the weeks I am unable to ride Chris Musso will be taking my place and leading the rides.
This ride is just like the chowder/desert route.
We’ll be making a rest, food, and bathroom stop at Tully’s around mile 28 for some great clam chowder or other stuff.

We'll keep the convoy together, so no one gets dropped and caught by Smokey. :)

This will be a little neighborhood ride around Holbrook. It would be perfect for those just starting out for the season, or anyone who would like to join me before a longer weekend ride. The average pace for this ride will be between 13.0 & 14.0 mph; naturally the road speed will be higher to produce the average. We can all go for coffee and a bagel just befor the end of the ride and chat if you want.
Any cancellation due to weather or any other circumstance will be posted no later than 8:00am if necessary. If you have question about the ride or the start location please call or text me 631.567.0384…Thanks

Let's celebrate Christine's birthday with a ride from the Sunshine Mall heading out to Manorville. This will be a slightly faster-paced and longer ride than the one Andrea has posted. But we'll also have a stop in Manorville, with the same goal as Andrea; wishing Christine a Happy Birthday! There will be some rolling terrain, some descents and birthday wishes.
Park at the bank at the Sunshine Mall - hopefully we won't have any issues over parking.
Since we always seem to miss the turn off River Road, let's remember that it's the turn at the red house onto Norwood Drive. Many famous race circuits have names given to their most memorable corners like Maison Blanche (White House) or Eau Rouge (Red Water), so we'll call the turn Maison Rouge (Red House). So, let's see if we make the turn :)
We will head north into Manorville then east into Calverton. Food/rest stop at the Bean & Bagel. Pace will most likely be on the low end of the B- range (13.0 - 14.0). Cancellation for any reason will be posted by 7AM on Saturday.

This is number 3 of the Seagull Century training rides. You don’t have to be doing the century to go on any of these rides. However, if you would like to know more about this century click on this link - (link is external)http://seagullcentury.org/ (link is external) (link is external) For some riders who did the century last year click on this link - (link is external)http://seagullcentury.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/06/SGC_Brochure_Final_17.pdf (link is external) (link is external) - to see if you are in the 2017 Seagull Century registration brochure group photo.
During the weeks I am unable to ride Chris Musso will be taking my place and leading the rides.
This week I thought we would change it up a bit and go to Manorville. The route will take us northeast, then south, and finally southwest working our way back to the start. There will be one or two spots for some break-a-ways for those who wish to do so.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 and 15.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction, the ride could come in a tad faster, meaning in the lower “B” range. The final mileage will be +/- a mile
Only one food stop this time, around mile 28 at McDonalds or the bagel shop
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute changes which will be posted no later than 7:30am. My cell number is 631.484.3490; call or text if you need additional information about the ride, start location or the Seagull Century…Thanks Bobby

Some hills but nothing crazy. Wait-ups at the top of the hills. No one gets dropped. Average speed may come in around the "B" level classification (15-16mph) due to hills but I'm posting this ride a little higher due to effort required for hills.
See some of the nicest areas on the North Fork. Bring snack and plenty of water. We will make a couple of short stops but no lengthy food stop. My cell 646-643-6856
we will do a ride to Babylon and then hang out for a quick brunch in the parking lot. I will have some table and chairs plus dunken donut coffee and donuts. bring your own munchies and enjoy the post ride get together.
For those of us not going on the lobster ride we will take a leisurely ride out to Manorville. Bring snacks and or $ for a rest stop at the Manorville McDonalds. Depending on the group we will try to average in the 14.5-15.0 range with cruising speeds slightly higher.
The only CHANGE is the mileage, and I finally put in the ride description. Sorry for the delay.
Ok, finally this ride is no longer called the Loster Time ride. I was lost, but I found my way, therefore, it is officially the Lobster Time ride. I must give Margaret Z. credit for planning this ride for me since I’m a little unfamiliar with this neck of the woods.
It will be a beautiful scenic ride passing many wineries; might miss the lobster, just joking. We will be starting in Mattituck and work our way eastward and south to Nassau Beach, we will not be doing the rollers down to the point. After that we’ll go eastward some more to the town of Southold and then start working our way back for our lobster lunch. Somewhere there will be a rest and a bathroom stop.
The average pace for the ride will be between 14.5 and 15.0 mph, depending on the roads and wind direction, the ride could come in a tad faster, meaning in the lower “B” range. Whatever the average, just remember we are going to have a beautiful, fun ride!
Please check the ride calendar for any weather, or last minute cancellations which will be posted in the early morning. Look at it this way, if it’s not raining it won’t be cancelled. If the day is rained out the lunch will still be a go. If you didn’t sign up for the lunch, oh well you can still do the ride.
If you have any questions about the ride, the lunch or the start location please call or text me at 631.484.3490
I will be doing a C ride, for about 18 miles and there will be cue sheets. We'll most likely ride over toward Riverhead and may take a break at the deli on Meeting House Creek Road (near the train crossing).
Anyone can do the ride itself, but the lunch is now FULL, and there are no day-of signups!
Ride from Pace's Dockside in Mattituck to New Suffolk, Nassau Point and Horton Point. This should be a very pretty ride. We will go at a relaxed enough pace to enjoy the scenery, a C+/B- pace (14-16 on flats to give avg of 13-14) with no one left behind. Some rolling hills. Bring water and/or hydration fluids. Bring a snack for the short stops at Nassau Point and Horton Point.
If you do not want to stay for the 11th Annual Lobster Extravaganza you can still come out and do this ride with us. Ride through the beautiful countryside of Mattituck to Indian Island Park for a quick stop. As always Newbies always welcome and NOBODY left behind. Any cancellation due to weather for the ride will be by 7:30AM. If you want to stay for the buffet see the attached info on the front web page. There are only 80 spots available for the buffet and it is filling FAST!
Wildwood will be the rest stop, we will stop at the Deli to pick up snacks to be eaten in the park speed will be determined by the wind, who shows up, how the leader feels that day, not to exceed the SBRA guidelines for a C+ paced ride, no one left behind, Cell Phone 631-484-1650 call for info 7am-8pm.
On the road again after a relapse. Sooo, starting out a little slower, will avg upper 16s. My usual Dune Road route. Bonus 10 miles if group wants to go to Cupsogue Beach. Stretch your legs on Dune Road plus some long straights on the way out and back. QUICK pit stop (fuel and go) at Tully's. Water (fill up and empty) stops as needed. Mostly flat except for Ponquogue Bridge and easy rollers on the way back. Zoomie says you can use his pool, but not is boogie board, to cool off after the ride if you want. Number below is house phone so no texts. I get up early and Dave can sleep through his snoring so there is no way the phone will wake him.
You all passed the final last week with flying colors, so I hope you will be at the final ride of this series. I thought it might be interesting to repeat our original ride (or close to it), in order to see how far you have come over the past 10 rides.
Of course, all are welcome to attend this ride.
Just a brief note: Just because the Beginner Hills Series is over shouldn’t mean that you stop hill rides or hill training. Ride leaders like Cathy Ardle, Richie Mardosa, Lynn Resnick and others frequently offer great hill rides that will keep you in shape. Who knows maybe there is a fondo in your future.
Leaving Bank of America heading to Hecksher Park for a bathroom break and a few loops around the park. Then onto Connetquot bike path and returning to Bank of America. Bring snacks and drinks for this ride.

Although I'm posting this for 12 miles, depending upon the weather and group, the mileage can be increased by a few (but will not be less than the mileage posted). Bug spray and lights for your bike are recommended since the trail is getting alittle bit darker as the evening progresses.
Please check back on this post by 4:00PM in case of any changes/cancellation. No go in rain.

We will follow the traditional Wenk route with the extention to 24. Sandwiched between Wednesday's hill ride and Friday's Kreb ride I hope to come in on the slower side of the "A" pace.
